Summary: We are living in the last days, we can't afford to look back at where we came from or be distracted by the world around us.

REMEMBER LOT'S WIFE
Luke 17:26-33
26 And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.
27 They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.
28 Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;
29 But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.
30 Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.
31 In that day, he which shall be upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away: and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back.
32 Remember Lot's wife.
33 Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.
We are living in the days described here by Jesus.
He gives us 2 time periods to look at concerning His return, the days of Noah and Sodom.
When you look at the Old Testament concerning the days of Noah, you can see just how much this world resembles it.
Genesis 6:5
5 And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
That's our day today.
The hearts of this generation is wicked. It seems that everywhere you turn evil and perversion prevail today.
Abortion is nearly expected now instead of a birth.
Homosexuality is rampant in our world today. Schools, especially on the college level, glorifies this lifestyle. It used to be an "alternate" lifestyle but now it's swiftly becoming the preferred lifestyle.
I know that you may be thinking, "I don't have that problem so this message isn't for me.". Just hold on, by the time we finished there isn't anyone in here that this message won't find you.
This perverted lifestyle is not the only focus of Jesus on the day's of Noah.
Luke 17:27
27 They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.
When we analyze the words of Jesus here we all find ourselves guilty. He doesn't tell of their twisted way of living.
He points out things that everybody does. People both in the church and out of the church does these things.
Eat
Drink
Marry
Give in marriage
This is simply day to day activity.
They were so caught up in living life that they didn't realize the end for them was near.
So consumed with their own way
Their own agenda
Their own desires that an ark was prepared and unheeded warnings given until it was too late.
They couldn't comprehend how what Noah was preaching could be true anyway.
Water had never fallen from the sky before.
The sad part of it that once it started falling it was too late to get on the boat.
Then Jesus shifts and starts to talk about Sodom.
When we think about Sodom we think of all the perversion and wickedness associated with that place.
It was a wicked place for sure.
But again, as with Noah's time, the focus of Jesus isn't on the perversion but rather on the focus of the people.
Luke 17:28
28 Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;
Nothing listed here is wrong in and of itself.
Eat
Drink
Buy
Sell
Plant
Build
None of those things are wrong.
These are things we all do at some time in our life.
Jesus is letting us know that when He returns society not only will be caught up in immorality but there will be those who aren't caught up in those things, they are just distracted by life.
The soon return of the Lord is no longer in view because everything else has our attention.
Matthew 24:42-51
42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
43 But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.
44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
45 Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?
