This sermon explores the resurrection of Jesus, emphasizing the fulfillment of His promises, His divine power, and the ensuing peace for believers.
Welcome, dear friends, to another blessed Sunday in the house of the Lord. It is a joy to see each and every one of you gathered here today, under the banner of His love, ready to engage with His Word and His promises.
Our focus today is on Luke 24:1-12. I invite you to open your Bibles and read along with me, as we immerse ourselves in the richness of His truth: 'On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, 'Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; He has risen! Remember how He told you, while He was still with you in Galilee: 'The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.' Then they remembered His words. When they came back from the tomb, they told all these things to the Eleven and to all the others. It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the others with them who told this to the apostles. But they did not believe the women, because their words seemed to them like nonsense. Peter, however, got up and ran to the tomb. Bending over, he saw the strips of linen lying by themselves, and he went away, wondering to himself what had happened.'
We turn our hearts and minds now to the words of Jesus Himself. He told His disciples, while He was still with them in Galilee, that He must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified, and on the third day be raised again. This was not a casual comment or a passing remark. It was a promise. A divine assurance. A guarantee from God Himself.
This promise is also for us! It is for you and me! It is for everyone who believes in Jesus Christ. He has promised that He has conquered death and that we, too, will conquer death through Him.
We live in a world that often seems full of broken promises. Politicians promise change but often fail to deliver. Advertisements promise happiness and satisfaction but leave us feeling empty. Even our own good intentions can lead to promises that we fail to keep. But the promises of God are different. They are sure and certain. They are as solid as a rock.
When Jesus made this promise, He was not just speaking words into the air. He was declaring a truth that is fundamental to our faith. The resurrection is not just a historical event. It is a living reality. It is the foundation of our hope and the source of our joy.
As we turn our attention to the power that is inherent in the resurrection, we find ourselves standing in awe of the magnitude of God's might ... View this full PRO sermon free with PRO
