Summary: As Christians, we know that our relationship with God is the most important one.
As Christians, we know that our relationship with God is the most important one. But how do we know if our other relationships are aligning with His will? The answer is simple, any relationship that drives you away from God is not meant to be.
Any relationship that drives you away from God is not meant to be. For a relationship to be truly blessed, it must draw you closer to Him, not push you further away. Remember, the right person will inspire you to be a better version of yourself, to love God more deeply, and to live a life that honours Him.
Here are few biblical examples to illustrate this point:
1. Adam and Eve: Their relationship with each other was beautiful, but when they sinned, it drove them away from God (Genesis 3).
2. David and Jonathan: Their friendship was strong, but it never compromised their love for God (1 Samuel 18:1-4).
3. Jesus and His disciples: He chose them to be with Him, to learn from Him, and to spread His message (Mark 3:13-19).
4. Abraham and Lot: Their family bond was important, but when Lot's choices conflicted with God's will, Abraham had to separate from him (Genesis 13:5-13).
5. Paul and Barnabas: Their ministry partnership was fruitful, but when they disagreed, they parted ways to maintain their integrity before God (Acts 15:36-41).
6. Ruth and Naomi: Their bond was strong, but Ruth's love for God and His people ultimately led her to leave her old life behind (Ruth 1:16-17).
7. The Israelites and the nations around them: God warned His people not to intermarry or be influenced by those who did not worship Him, lest they be drawn away from His love (Deuteronomy 7:3-4).
Remember, the right person will inspire you to:
- Love God more deeply
- Live a life that honors Him
- Become a better version of yourself
If a relationship is pushing you further away from God, it's time to reevaluate. Seek guidance from His Word and surround yourself with people who will draw you closer to Him.
