Plan for: Thanksgiving | Advent | Christmas
Embody and reflect Christ's Divine Light, guiding others towards His love and grace amidst life's darkness. Key
Welcome, beloved brothers and sisters in Christ, to this gathering of hearts and souls, united in our shared love for our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We gather here today, not as individuals, but as a family, bound together by the unbreakable bonds of faith, hope, and love.
Today, we set our hearts and minds on a topic that is as radiant as the morning sun, as illuminating as the full moon on a clear, starlit night. We turn our attention to the Divine Light, the Light that outshines all darkness, the Light that guides us on our path, the Light that is our Lord Jesus Christ.
In the words of the esteemed Christian preacher, D.L. Moody, "We are told to let our light shine, and if it does, we won't need to tell anybody it does. Lighthouses don't fire cannons to call attention to their shining–they just shine." How profound, how simple, yet how deeply true these words are. For it is in following Jesus, in becoming bearers of His Divine Light, that we find ourselves stepping out of the shadows and into the brightness of His love.
Now, let's turn our attention to the first aspect of this teaching. Our calling to be bearers of the divine light. Jesus uses the metaphor of a lamp to illustrate this point. Just as a lamp is not hidden but placed on a stand to give light to everyone in the house, so too are we called to let our light shine before others.
This is not about drawing attention to ourselves, but rather, it's about pointing others to Jesus. It's about living in such a way that people see our good deeds and glorify our Father in heaven. It's about being a living testimony of God's love and grace, a beacon of hope in a world that so desperately needs it.
The second aspect of this teaching is about understanding the source of this light. It's important to remember that the light we're called to bear is not our own, but rather, it's the light of Jesus. As followers of Christ, we have the Holy Spirit living within us, and it's through His power that we're able to shine brightly.
The third aspect of this teaching is about the impact of this light. When we let our light shine before others, it has the power to dispel darkness, to bring hope to the hopeless, to bring comfort to the hurting, and to bring healing to the broken. It has the power to guide others towards Jesus, to illuminate the path that leads to eternal life.
The fourth aspect of this teaching is about the cost of bearing this light. Let's be clear, being a bearer of the divine light is not always easy. It requires sacrifice, it requires perseverance, and it requires courage. It means standing up for what is right, even when it's unpopular. It means loving others, even when they're unlovable. It means forgiving others, even when they've hurt us deeply.
