Summary: Paul encourages us to make “the best use” of time.

1. DO NOT PROCRASTINATE.

pro·cras·ti·na·tion

noun

the action of delaying or postponing something.

• V14 – “wake up sleeper”

• Time is gold.

• Let us not waste our time.

Ephesians 5:16

16Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

• Jesus never procrastinate.

John 9:4

4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.

• We must do the works while it is day

• While there is still time.

• We must double time.

2 Timothy 3:1-5

1But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God—5having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.

2. LIVE WISELY.

• Manage your time wisely.

Ephesians 5:15

15Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise.

Ephesians 5:17

17Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.

• Living wisely is understanding the very will of God.

Proverbs 14:16

16A wise man is cautious and turns away from evil,

But a fool is arrogant and careless.

James 3:13-18

13Who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom. 14But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth. 15Such “wisdom” does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic.

16For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice. 17But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. 18Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness.

3. SHARE YOUR TIME TO OTHERS.

Galatians 6:9-10

9Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

10Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

Proverbs 3:27

27Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to act.
