Introduction
As believers in Jesus Christ, we are called to live a life of power and authority. This includes being filled with the Holy Spirit and speaking in other tongues. In this message today, we will discuss the importance of receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in other tongues and how it can benefit our spiritual lives. We will further explore how we may receive this gift.
I. The Promise of the Holy Spirit
A. Scripture: Joel 2:28-29
1. God's promise to pour out His Spirit on all flesh, leading to prophesying, dreams, and visions.

B. Scripture: Acts 10:44-46

C. Five ingredients which open the door to the baptism in the Holy Spirit
1. Believe the Holy Spirit available to you – according to your faith be it unto you (Matt. 9:29; Heb. 11:6)
2. Ask Jesus to fill you – we have not because we ask not (Jn. 16:24; Jas. 4:2)
3. Develop an earnest expectation and desire to be filled – get passionate. Go after it! (1 Corinthians 14:1)
4. Stay free from offense and embrace unity (Acts 2:1-4 – they were in one accord)
5. Yield – your tongue from self-control to Spirit control (Acts 2:4 – they spoke as the Spirit gave them utterance)
IV. The Evidence of Speaking in Tongues
A. Scripture: Mark 16:17
1. Jesus states that speaking in new tongues is a sign that will follow those who believe.
B. Scripture: 1 Corinthians 14:2
1. Speaking in tongues as a means of communicating mysteries to God, edifying oneself, and praying in the Spirit.
