Genesis 27:13 (Amplified Bible)

27:13 But his mother said to him, On me be your curse, my son; only obey my word and go, fetch them to me.

V. THESIS:

Praise, worship and thank You very much LORD JESUS, for you totally and infinitely absorbed all curses in our lives. Now we live under grace, where there is no curse. You have given us obedience to benefit us, and every WORD of GOD enriches, benefits us and allows us to get things for Your Glory.

Rebekah absorbed the blame

Genesis 3:15 (Amplified Bible)

3:15 And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her Offspring; He will bruise and tread your head underfoot, and you will lie in wait and bruise His heel.

VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. Someone took the curse meant for us

"But his mother said to him, On me be your curse, my son;"

The "curse" word used here is much, much weaker than the curse used in Galatians 3:13. The curse meant here was just "defamation" or "blame" NOT the curse of the law, which is "evil"

Rebekah can be the type of CHRIST which absorbs all curses, yet Rebekah can't attain to GOD's Majesty in absorbing all curses into His body on the tree.

Curse here is "vilification" which means "Defamed; traduced; debased"

Curse word used in Galatians 3:13 means "invoking evil on any one; a prayer that a curse or calamity may fall on any one." or "utter detestation expressed; imprecation of evil".

3:13 Christ purchased our freedom [redeeming us] from the curse (doom) of the Law [and its condemnation] by [Himself] becoming a curse for us, for it is written [in the Scriptures], Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree (is crucified);

Deuteronomy 21:23 (Amplified Bible)

21:23 His body shall not remain all night upon the tree, but you shall surely bury him on the same day, for a hanged man is accursed by God. Thus you shall not defile your land which the Lord your God gives you for an inheritance.

We see another person in the bible with redemptive qualities like that of JESUS.

5. CHRIST for GOD's people

Galatians 3:10-13 (Amplified Bible)

3:10 And all who depend on the Law [who are seeking to be justified by obedience to the Law of rituals] are under a curse and doomed to disappointment and destruction, for it is written in the Scriptures, Cursed (accursed, devoted to destruction, doomed to eternal punishment) be everyone who does not continue to abide (live and remain) by all the precepts and commands written in the Book of the Law and to practice them.

3:11 Now it is evident that no person is justified (declared righteous and brought into right standing with God) through the Law, for the Scripture says, The man in right standing with God [the just, the righteous] shall live by and out of faith and he who through and by faith is declared righteous and in right standing with God shall live.

3:12 But the Law does not rest on faith [does not require faith, has nothing to do with faith], for it itself says, He who does them [the things prescribed by the Law] shall live by them [not by faith].
