Reasons to be Happy in Christ!

Although the blessings of God are more in number then we can count we are sharing some of the reasons listed in the Word why we should be happy. How many of these can you say you are enjoying in your Christian Life? In this outline we are listing only 14 of the many joys the Bible offers us as we walk with the Lord. Three enemies that oppose happiness--worry, boredom, and self-centeredness.

1. We are Happy when we are forgiven.

(Psa 32:1) Blessed is he whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered.

A. This has to be the most important of all happiness, for with out forgiveness we cannot be truly happy.

2. We are Happy when we are merciful.

(Psa 41:1) Blessed is he who has regard for the weak; the LORD delivers him in times of trouble.

A. We should not seek mercy from the Lord if we are not willing to be merciful. There is great joy when can show mercy to others.

B. Prov 14:21 KJV) He that despiseth his neighbour sinneth: but he that hath mercy on the poor, happy is he.

3. Happy are those whose help and hope are in God.

Psa 146:5-Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God: 6 Which made heaven, and earth, the sea, and all that therein is: which keepeth truth forever:

4. We are Happy when we are generous.

(Prov 14:21) He who despises his neighbor sins, but blessed is he who is kind to the needy.

A. I cannot pass up a Salvation Army bucket. God is a giver, God gave His Son. We need to be like Him.

B. Unhappiness always seeks to get; happiness always seeks to give.

5. Happy are those whose trust is in God.

(Prov 16:20) Whoever gives heed to instruction prospers, and blessed is he who trusts in the LORD.

6. Happy are those who follow God’s Word - BIBLE.

(Prov 29:18) Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; but blessed is he who keeps the law.

(John 13:17 KJV) If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.

7. We are Happy when we have a vision for the lost.

(Prov 29:18 KJV) Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

8. Happy are those who are anticipating the Lord’s return.

(Rev 22:7 NIV) "Behold, I am coming soon! Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy in this book." To be with Jesus forever is the sum of happiness.

9. We are happy when God corrects us. Perhaps not at that moment, but when we realize that He does it cause He loves us, we are happy.

(Job 5:17 KJV) Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty:

10. We are Happy when we put all our Hope in the Lord.

(Psa 146:5 KJV) Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God:

The light of God’s Son in your heart will put his sunshine on your face.

11. The wise man is Happy when he finds wisdom and understanding.

(Prov 3:13 KJV) Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.

A. Wisdom puts knowledge to work.

12. We are Happy when we trust the Lord in all areas of our lives.

(Prov 16:20 KJV) He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the LORD, happy is he.

It is easy to sing when we walk with the King.

13. In Christ suffering can bring happiness. This is not natural, it is supernatural.

(1 Pet 3:14 KJV) But and if ye suffer for righteousness’ sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled;

(1 Pet 4:14 KJV) If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.

Three enemies that oppose happiness--worry, boredom, and self-centeredness.

Happiness of heart can no more be attained without God than light and sunshine can be had without the sun. Happiness is heavenly born; its aroma is of heaven; it leads to heaven and its emblem is heaven. On every side, in every part of the universe men and women are seeking happiness and cannot find it because they do not seek it from God.
