Summary: Blessing is in our level of faith in the Giver of Blessings

John had a way of causing his readers to see the loving side of God through His son Jesus. In John’s writings, he tells us to love each other, to love like God, and that God is love. He stresses how the love of God was manifested with the sacrifice of His only begotten son, in an effort to make certain all mankind could be redeemed. The only thing a person needs to do to qualify for this gift is to believe! To believe in something, you have faith in something…and according to the word of God – that faith makes us blessed and highly favored. Allowing us to walk in righteousness and be bombarded by the bounty of the Lord. All because of a real faith! And a real faith gets you real blessed! Somebody say BLESSED!

Here John is concluding his gospel writing by stating, Jesus performed many more miracles than these that I have written about, and the only reason I have written about as many as you find here is because I want you to believe and be blessed! Because it is your belief that gives you a life in Jesus. A life in Jesus gives you a secure place in heaven. A secure place in heaven, gets you a mansion not made by hand. A mansion not made by man – means it will never deteriorate. Because you have a maintenance free house, you can walk around heaven all day, you can shout and never get tired, you can praise God and nobody will look at you funny wondering what you shouting for now…. Real Blessed!

However, we do not want to wait till we get to heaven to receive a bounty from God, in fact in Ephesians 1:3-14 beginning at the third verse we find a list of blessings

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us for adoption through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, 6to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ 10as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth. In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will, so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of his glory. In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory

Our trust and faith gives us a guarantee! Guaranteed peace, joy, and inheritance! Nobody gives these type guarantees but God. Man won’t give you a guaranteed inheritance – if kin folk get mad at you they take you out of the will…. The government can tax your inheritance, and folk can place liens against your inheritance, family members may take you to court over your inheritance…but the inheritance that Jesus secured is obtainable solely through our belief – which puts us in the will of God!

What makes this thing so exciting is the fact that God chose to bless us long before we began to mess up! Long before we were born into these sinful bodies. Long before the children of Israel began to dance around rather they believed or not. The security blanket, the blessing, the abundance of God was secured before Adam and Eve screwed up the salvation system. Because God knew that we, his children would chose the wrong things… but He decided to make certain we were not written out of His will unless we so chose. So He gave us Jesus!

However, many of us profess to have faith, but we don’t always recognize our blessings. The case may be that it is because we have spoken in detail on what faith is… We know how to recite the definition, well at least some of us do…Hebrews 11:1 – But maybe we struggle with understanding what it means to be blessed or to receive a blessing. We oft times immediately think of the physical and material things such as house, care, job, or money. We even categorize people as a blessing such as family, children staying out of trouble, friends having attitude changes, getting a spouse, or even a spouse transformation or removal. But maybe we don’t quite comprehend what a blessing is. The dictionary defines it as "a wish or prayer for happiness or success." Other words connected with blessing are: Encouragement, Approval, Honor, Praise, Favor, Pardon. When you bless somebody, you are saying you want good for them; you wish them well. Blessing is most often connected with receiving good things from God.
