In this passage, we receive the encouragement from Christ to be faithful and to remain ready. We can remain faithful because He is a good shepherd who looks over His flock. We stay ready because we don’t know the day or the hour when Christ will return, but we trust that He is coming soon.

Youth Sermon: Ready & Faithful

Introduction

Today, we're going to talk about being ready and faithful. Life can be pretty unpredictable, right? Sometimes we're prepared for what's coming, and other times, we're caught off guard. But when it comes to our faith, Jesus wants us to be ready and faithful all the time.

So, let's dive into our main passage for today, which is Luke 12:32-40.

But when it comes to our faith, Jesus wants us to be ready and faithful all the time.

Key Points from the Passage

In this passage, Jesus is teaching his disciples about trusting in Him and being prepared for His return. He tells them not to be afraid and to focus on heavenly treasures instead of earthly ones.

Now, I want to show you something. (Hold up a flashlight.) This flashlight represents our faith. When it's turned on and shining brightly, we're ready and faithful. But when it's off, we're not prepared for what's coming. Just like we need to keep our flashlights charged and ready to use, we need to keep our faith strong and focused on Jesus.

How to Apply These Points to Our Lives

So, how do we do that? Let's look at some key points from our passage and other Scriptures:

1. Don't be afraid (Luke 12:32)

2. Focus on heavenly treasures (Luke 12:33-34)

3. Be ready and keep your "faith flashlight" shining (Luke 12:35-40)

4. Fix your eyes on Jesus (Hebrews 12:1-3)

Now, let's talk about some practical ways we can apply these points to our lives:

1. When you're feeling afraid or worried, remember that Jesus is our Good Shepherd, and He's always with us. Read Psalm 23:1-3 to remind yourself of His care and protection.

2. Instead of focusing on material things or what others have, think about the eternal treasures we have in Jesus. Spend time in prayer and reading the Bible to grow closer to Him.

3. To keep your "faith flashlight" shining, stay connected to Jesus through prayer, worship, and fellowship with other believers.

4. When life gets tough or you're feeling overwhelmed, fix your eyes on Jesus. Remember what He went through for us and how He's always there to help us through our struggles.

Conclusion

So, let's commit to being ready and faithful, keeping our "faith flashlights" shining brightly for Jesus.

Let's pray together:

"Dear God, thank You for loving us and giving us the gift of faith. Help us to be ready and faithful, trusting in You and focusing on the eternal treasures You've promised us. Keep our "faith flashlights" shining brightly as we fix our eyes on Jesus and live for You. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."
