Summary: The wolves are now rich enough to buy the best sheep's clothing, but a true shepherd can sniff them out.

1 Cor 5:11  But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.

Covetous p?e??e´?t?? pleonekte¯s pleh-on-ek'-tace

From G4119 and G2192; holding (desiring) more, that is, eager for gain (avaricious, hence a defrauder): - covetous. Total KJV occurrences: 4 Strong’s Concordance

I see this in nearly all of the prosperity preachers, apostles, etc. They are eager for gain which is covetousness and they pass that on to their followers who send tons of money to these people so that they can have great gain and prosperity, but in the end only the "prophets" profit.

Extortioner a?´?pa? harpax har'-pax From G726; rapacious: - extortion, ravening. Total KJV occurrences: 5 Strong’s Concordance

Extortion: noun

1. Illegal use of one's official position or powers to obtain property, funds, or patronage.

2. The act or an instance of extorting something, as by psychological pressure.

3. An excessive or exorbitant charge.

The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language, 5th Edition

Psychological pressure? The constant pushing people to believe that if they are to receive blessings, healing, financial help, etc. they must sow into the speaker’s ministry. Having a child writhing at the feet of an “apostle” while that “apostle” is telling the mother she must sow money for the child’s deliverance. Asking $1500 for a course on prayer or saying a woman needs to sow $3000 to get a mate. Those are perfect examples of extortion.

Are they ravening?

adjective

1. Greedily devouring; rapacious.

"ravening wolves"

Similar: rapacious

2. Voracious and greedy.

3. Devouring or craving food in great quantities.

"a rapacious appetite"

I would be hard pressed to find any sermon by these people without any talking about sowing seed for you blessing or miracle. Indeed, they get very passionate about like a wolf gobbling down their prey. It never stops. Why can’t people see the error of these people and run? Because their basic desires and needs are being used to excite and manipulate them. Some do break free from this bondage and try to free others, but are they are ignored or bashed for speaking out against the “prophet.” They may seem to be great pulpiteers, but in reality are profiteers. They are false prophets that Jesus warned us about.

Mat 7:15  Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

No where in Scripture will you find anything speaking to a New Apostolic Reformation or a world wide domination by the Church or even a great revival, but we do see much about false prophets appearing with signs and wonders that look so good that only the saved/elect would be able to see they are false. Jesus did not seem to expect much faith being on earth when He returned, let alone the Church having taken dominion. Luke 18:8

2 Thess 2:7  For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.

8  And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

9  Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

10  And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

2 Thess 2:3  Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

A falling away or an apostasia, a?p?stas?´a ap-os-tas-ee'-ah

Feminine of the same as G647; defection from truth (properly the state), (“apostasy”): - falling away, forsake. Strong’s Concordance.

I believe the age of the great apostasy started in the 1800s. Higher criticism, Darwin, Marx and Freud wanted to take God out of His Word, His Creation, economics and man’s mind.

2 Tim 4:2  Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

3  For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

4  And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

Not only the fables of Darwin and the others, but theologically we went from exegesis to eisegesis using our feelings over what the Word actually says. Experiences override Scripture or take it completely out of context giving rise to these false prophets whose prophecies fail, but their profits increase because people are no longer Bereans fact checking the prophets by the Word.
