VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. JESUS found fault with the old agreement

"However, He finds fault with them [showing its inadequacy]"

Jeremiah 31:31-34 (Amplified Bible)

31:31 Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah,

31:32 Not according to the covenant which I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, although I was their Husband, says the Lord.

31:33 But this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel: After those days, says the Lord, I will put My law within them, and on their hearts will I write it; and I will be their God, and they will be My people.

31:34 And they will no more teach each man his neighbor and each man his brother, saying, Know the Lord, for they will all know Me [recognize, understand, and be acquainted with Me], from the least of them to the greatest, says the Lord. For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will [seriously] remember their sin no more.

Hebrews 10:16-17 (Amplified Bible)

10:16 This is the agreement (testament, covenant) that I will set up and conclude with them after those days, says the Lord: I will imprint My laws upon their hearts, and I will inscribe them on their minds (on their inmost thoughts and understanding),

10:17 He then goes on to say, And their sins and their lawbreaking I will remember no more.

JESUS found fault with old agreement or old covenant which is based on man's performance and not on GOD's finished work on the Cross.

B. JESUS have made or ratified a new covenant for us

"when He says, Behold, the days will come, says the Lord, when I will make and ratify a new covenant or agreement with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah."

Make or ratify came from the Greek word: "sunteleo" meaning:

1. to end together or at the same time

2. to end completely

3. to accomplish, bring to fulfilment

4. to effect, make, (conclude)

5. to finish

JESUS finished His agreement with us in this New Covenant, by concluding it completely, accomplishing and fulfilling our salvation which is based on the finished work of the LORD JESUS CHRIST on the Cross.

Isaiah 55:3 (Amplified Bible)

55:3 Incline your ear [submit and consent to the divine will] and come to Me; hear, and your soul will revive; and I will make an everlasting covenant or league with you, even the sure mercy (kindness, goodwill, and compassion) promised to David.

Jeremiah 32:40 (Amplified Bible)

32:40 And I will make an everlasting covenant with them: I will not turn away from following them to do them good, and I will put My [reverential] fear in their hearts, so that they will not depart from Me.

Ezekiel 37:26 (Amplified Bible)

37:26 I will make a covenant of peace with them; it shall be an everlasting covenant with them, and I will give blessings to them and multiply them and will set My sanctuary in the midst of them forevermore.

IX. CONCLUSION:

Thank You very much LORD JESUS for the New Covenant you have made with us, perfecting our relationship and our faith in time of Grace. Now we are complete and perfect in You.
