I. EXORDIUM:
Did JESUS saw you before you believed?
Definitely Yes, from eternity He has already chosen me
Ephesians 1:4 (Amplified Bible)
Even as [in His love] He chose us [actually picked us out for Himself as His own] in Christ before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy (consecrated and set apart for Him) and blameless in His sight, even above reproach, before Him in love.
II. AUDIENCE PROFILE:
Believers
III. OBJECTIVES:
To show that GOD saw us from eternity and He has chosen us before the foundation of the world and brought us out to be His own.
IV. TEXT:
Joshua 6:22 (Amplified Bible)
But Joshua said to the two men who had spied out the land, Go into the harlot’s house and bring out the woman and all she has, as you swore to her.
V. THESIS:
Praise, worship and thank You very much LORD JESUS because You have chosen me before the foundation of the world and brought me out to be Your very own to take care of.
VI. TITLE:
Rahab, example of deliverance
VII. EXPLICATION:
A. Author: Joshua (uncertain)
B. Key Thought: How to be successful in the battle of life? (Joshua 1:8-9)
Joshua 1:8-9 (NLT)
8 Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.
9 This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
C. Leading Topic: Conquest and Division of the land of Canaan
VIII. MAIN BODY:
The Aleph-Tav signatures are placed before the words "spied out" and "bring out" so these two will be our main points.
Joshua is a type of the LORD JESUS CHRIST because his name means "JEHOVAH saved", meaning "JESUS saves". Whenever you call out the name "Joshua", you are already telling the good news or blessing someone.
A. GOD saw (spied out) us before we got born again
"But Joshua said to the two men who had spied out the land,"
Like Nathanael, even before He came to JESUS, the LORD JESUS saw him.
John 1:48 (Amplified Bible)
Nathanael said to Jesus, How do You know me? [How is it that You know these things about me?] Jesus answered him, Before [ever] Philip called you, when you were still under the fig tree, I saw you.
Yet, He already picked us up before the foundation of the world
Ephesians 1:4 (Amplified Bible)
Even as [in His love] He chose us [actually picked us out for Himself as His own] in Christ before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy (consecrated and set apart for Him) and blameless in His sight, even above reproach, before Him in love.
B. GOD brought us out
"Go into the harlot’s house and bring out the woman and all she has,"
The LORD JESUS brought us all out.
a. with rejoicing and with shouts of joy
Psalms 105:43 (New International Version)
He brought out his people with rejoicing, his chosen ones with shouts of joy;
b. laden with silver and gold
Example of Exodus of the Jews:
Psalms 105:37 (New International Version)
He brought out Israel, laden with silver and gold, and from among their tribes no one faltered.
1 Kings 8:51 (New International Version)
for they are your people and your inheritance, whom you brought out of Egypt, out of that iron-smelting furnace.
c. by GOD's great power and outstretched arm
Deuteronomy 9:29 (New International Version)
But they are your people, your inheritance that you brought out by your great power and your outstretched arm."
Deuteronomy 9:26 (New International Version)
I prayed to the Lord and said, "O Sovereign Lord, do not destroy your people, your own inheritance that you redeemed by your great power and brought out of Egypt with a mighty hand.
Exodus 32:11 (New International Version)
But Moses sought the favor of the Lord his God. "O Lord," he said, "why should your anger burn against your people, whom you brought out of Egypt with great power and a mighty hand?
d. for GOD to be our GOD
Leviticus 26:45 (New International Version)
But for their sake I will remember the covenant with their ancestors whom I brought out of Egypt in the sight of the nations to be their God. I am the Lord.'"
e. to be His very own, like a Shepherd leading out the sheep
John 10:4 (New International Version)
When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice.
IX. CONCLUSION:
Praise, worship and thank You very much LORD JESUS because You have chosen me before the foundation of the world and brought me out to be Your very own to take care of.
