When I begin this message, I think of an old song that starts with, "Hold to God's unchanging hand, build your hopes on things eternal, hold to God's unchanging hand." One verse said, "When it looks like the sun will not shine anymore, hold to God's unchanging hand."

I'm on a roll now as I hear another song in my spirit that goes something like, "Put your hand in the man who walked on the water, put your hand in the man who calmed the sea. Take a look at yourself, and you will look at others differently. Put your hand in the hand of the man from Galilee."

This message highlights the importance of understanding the true power of intercessory prayer. Before experiencing that power, it's crucial to recognize its significance. Historically, many church ministries have arrogantly claimed they are untouchable to the devil, only to be caught off guard by tragedy—sometimes disappearing entirely.

A detailed examination of Jesus's life and ministry underscores His role as the ultimate intercessor. Throughout His journey, He consistently advocated for others, demonstrating compassion and mercy in every interaction. Whether through healing the sick, forgiving sins, or praying for His disciples, Jesus exemplified what it means to stand in the gap for others.

The lord’s profound connection with God the Father allowed Him to intercede not only for individuals in need but for all of humanity, ultimately culminating in His sacrificial act on the cross. This selfless commitment to intercession sets a powerful example for us to follow in our own lives.

"WHAT IS A PRAYER INTERCESSOR?"

A prayer intercessor is someone who actively participates in intercessory prayer, a spiritual practice where they pray on behalf of others. This role is essential because intercessors act as mediators, "standing in the gap" between God and those in need—whether an individual, a community, or specific circumstances.

The word "intercede" originates from the idea of "going between" or "touching" and highlights the intercessor's role in bridging the gap between those they pray for and God. This act often involves a strong connection to others' needs and struggles, requiring empathy, understanding, and dedication to spiritual warfare. Intercessors may pray for healing, protection, wisdom, or other needs, trusting in the power of prayer to bring about positive change.

In the Old Testament, key figures like Abraham, Moses, Samuel, David, Ezekiel, Jeremiah, and Hezekiah demonstrated the importance of intercession through their strong advocacy before God. A notable example is Moses; when the Israelites sinned and faced God's anger, he passionately interceded for them. His sincere prayers were instrumental in preventing divine punishment and highlighted the power of a mediator’s plea.

In the New Testament, Jesus Christ is portrayed as the ultimate intercessor, passionately advocating for humanity by pleading with God on our behalf, especially when we do not know how to voice our needs.

The Lord’s example of interceding for His disciples and future believers, even during His greatest trial, vividly demonstrates the core purpose of prayer. This deep transforming love motivates intercessors to pray passionately and persistently for others and their well-being.
