Summary: Here in this verse, the Psalmist David speaks of what the Lord meant to Him!
"MY LIGHT, MY SALVATION, MY STRENGTH!"
Psalms 27:1
Here the Psalmist David speaks of what the Lord meant to him.
*Let's notice 3 things David said about the Lord. First,
I. David said the Lord was his LIGHT.
Light is so important for many reasons.
1. Light is illuminating.
A. We need light practically. Ever shave or eat in the dark?
B. We need light spiritually. "Christ will give thee light. Eph 5:14
Song, “Once I was blind, but now I can see. The light of the world!"
2. Light reveals dangers.
Somebody said, "Coffee tables are leg shin finders in the dark."
3. Light brings warmth.
Wintertime we “turn heat up” and "turn the table lamp on!”
God's entrance in a life softens, warms many a cold, cold - heart!
II. David said the Lord was his SALVATION. ("deliverance")
Pic after Oklahoma tornado show people spared in a “safe room!”
Are you ”safe" and saved in the salvation provided by Christ Jesus?
III. David said the Lord was his STRENGTH.
Battle after battle, David had found that the Lord was his strength.
These found that the Lord God was their strength and deliverance...
A. The 3 Hebrew children, in the fiery furnace,
B. Daniel, in that lions’ den,
C. Noah, facing the flood,
D. Jeremiah, when his prophecy was scoffed at and ignored,
E. Job, when everything seemed to go wrong,
F. Paul, when his co-laborers forsook him.
God gives the greatest strength when we’re at our weakest point!
It was reported that Gospel musician Charles Weigle's wife took their child and left him, after Weigle announced that he was called to the gospel ministry. Weigle was nearly destroyed by that.
But strengthened by the Lord, Weigle had a great preaching and
gospel music ministry. Who has not been blessed by the great song he penned and sang so many times. The chorus...
"No one ever cared for me like Jesus;
There’s no other friend so kind as He.
No one else could take the sin and darkness from me;
O how much He care
