4. Oh How Mary Sings “The Magnificat”
• All Mary can do Is sing “My soul magnifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,” she sings
• Mary Sings because God announces the arrival of the Promised One to the people who need to hear it most: the poor, the lowly, the broken and the disregarded — those who have no power.
• Mary Sings God has looked with favor on the lowliness of his servant. Surely, from now on all generations will call me blessed; for the mighty one has done great things for me, and holy is his name”
• Mary is a young woman, barely perceived as a person in that culture. She had no status no popularity she was living in a tiny village in the middle of nowhere.
• And yet, she sings: “He has looked with favor on the lowliness of his servant.
• Mary sings Praise Because “He Has” 51He has performed; he has shown strength 52He has brought 53He has filled 54He has helped He has sit with the poor, hungry, sinners and outcasts, filling them with hope. He sets with us.
