Purpose Of Power
Contributed by Alexander John on Nov 20, 2005 (message contributor)
Summary: god has a purpose when He give His power to us
Purpose of His power
Isaiah 6 .8 8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?"
And I said, "Here am I. Send me!"
v.1 The King Uzziah died
Isaiah saw the Lord when the king died.
We have no room for two kings.
Isaiah lost hope … he thought the good days of the nation is over.
God show him His majesty told him I am still on the throne …
Death and dependency ……
God can’t be your king until all other kings are gone …
When god will reveal himself???
God is always here... He is omnipresent
But there should be a perfect environment
Acts 2. The H.S. came when?
Day of Pentecost …
It is almost two months now from Jesus crucifixion.
The memories of CROSS ARE STILL FRESH
They were waiting eagerly for the promise
Holy Spirit came …
When we enthrone god in our lives , when cross is still fresh in our lives god will send his power ….
Frost … the crystallized water existed in the form of frost was always existed in another dimension
but we can’t see it until certain conditions are met
when the weather conditions are just right , when the humidity is at the perfect percentage … frost will appear
Isaiah saw the Lord …
What did he saw???
The preeminence of God
The holiness of God ------------- it is His nature
You can’t separate god from his nature
You can’t make water wet or night dark
God is holy …
God is still in control
The after effect of the vision
He saw himself
He realized his unworthiness
His need of cleansing
He heard the voice of god
He saw the heart of god .. His love to people
Many time we think mountain top experience is just experiencing God and spending time with Him .Indeed it is a good experience , no doubt about that ; but there should be an after effect of that.
Most of the mountains in the Bible are the place of obedience, loneliness, sacrifice and standing for god.
Genesis 22 Abraham - sacrifice
Exodus 19, 34 Moses -being available
1King 17 Elijah – standing alone for god
Mathew 27 Jesus – the ultimate sacrifice
For Abraham, Moses, Elijah, Jesus all of them were willing to make the sacrifice and obedient to God.
God revealed Himself to all of them.
This vision changed Isaiah
He was willing to serve... Willing to go... Willing to speak on behalf of God an unpopular message
Pentecost changed the disciples …
Acts 1 – Acts 2
Chapter one the question is...1.6 “Lord are you at this time going to restore the kingdom for Israel”??
Crucifixion or even resurrection of Jesus didn’t changed them at all .They are asking same old question, they are concerned only about their positions.
But in chapter 2 Peter was passionate about Jesus; he was concerned about the souls
Holy Spirit will break our selfishness
Holy Spirit will change our priorities
Why God give us the Holy spirit ??
To accomplish His purpose
Acts 1.8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
John 16.13,14 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. 14He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you.
The function of the Holy spirit is give God the glory …
The ministry of the holy spirit is to guide you in all the truth..
So when we fill with the spirit our main concern is always the reputation of the name of the Lord…
When god revealed himself to Isaiah…
V.5 He was humbled
V.6-7 He was cleansed
V 9 God’s plans are revealed
