I. EXORDIUM:

Have you ever drank an olive oil?

II. AUDIENCE PROFILE:

General believers

III. OBJECTIVES:

To show that we need to prioritize our daily relationship with the LORD.

IV. TEXT:

Exodus 27:20-21

20 “Command the people of Israel to bring you pure oil of pressed olives for the light, to keep the lamps burning continually.

21 The lampstand will stand in the Tabernacle, in front of the inner curtain that shields the Ark of the Covenant. Aaron and his sons must keep the lamps burning in the Lord’s presence all night. This is a permanent law for the people of Israel, and it must be observed from generation to generation.

Pray that GOD will give us the desire, hunger and thirst for GOD's Presence in our daily lives.

V. THESIS:

Desire, hunger and thirst for GOD's Presence daily.

VI. TITLE:

Pure Olive Oil for the Lampstand

A. Author: Moses, Second book of the Pentateuch.

B. Date/Time of writing: 1491 BC

C. Key Thought: Deliverance

D. Main Theme: History of Israel from death of Joseph to Tabernacle's creation.

E. Symbolisms:

1. Egypt = sin/slavery of/to sin

2. Exodus = deliverance from sin

3. Israelites = type of the believer

VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. Symbolisms:

1. People of Israel = Christians

2. Pure olive oil = Holy Spirit (Isaiah 32:15, Isaiah 44:3, Joel 2:28)

Isaiah 32:15

until at last the Spirit is poured out on us from heaven. Then the wilderness will become a fertile field, and the fertile field will yield bountiful crops.

Isaiah 44:3

For I will pour out water to quench your thirst and to irrigate your parched fields. And I will pour out my Spirit on your descendants, and my blessing on your children.

Joel 2:28

Then, after doing all those things, I will pour out my Spirit upon all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your old men will dream dreams, and your young men will see visions.

3. Seven lampstands = LORD or sometimes the Church (2 Samuel 22:29)

2 Samuel 22:29

O Lord, you are my lamp. The Lord lights up my darkness.

a. At times, it's the position of the church or the Church (Revelations 1:12, Revelations 1:20)

Revelation 1:12

When I turned to see who was speaking to me, I saw seven gold lampstands.

Revelation 1:20

This is the meaning of the mystery of the seven stars you saw in my right hand and the seven gold lampstands: The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches.

4. Kept burning continually = do our part of worshipping the LORD on a daily basis.

a. devotions, prayer, worship services, fellowships, bible studies, ministries, dawn watch, night watch, etc.

5. Most Holy Place = our hearts where we enthrone the LORD.

a. tablet of our hearts (Proverbs 3:3, Proverbs 7:3, 2 Corinthians 3:3, Deuteronomy 10:5)

Proverbs 3:3

Never let loyalty and kindness leave you! Tie them around your neck as a reminder. Write them deep within your heart.

Proverbs 7:3

Tie them on your fingers as a reminder. Write them deep within your heart.

2 Corinthians 3:3

Clearly, you are a letter from Christ showing the result of our ministry among you. This “letter” is written not with pen and ink, but with the Spirit of the living God. It is carved not on tablets of stone, but on human hearts.

Deuteronomy 10:5

Then I turned and came down the mountain and placed the tablets in the Ark of the Covenant, which I had made, just as the Lord commanded me. And the tablets are still there in the Ark.

6. Aaron and his sons = our priestly duties (1 Peter 2:5,9)

1 Peter 2:5,9

5 And you are living stones that God is building into his spiritual temple. What’s more, you are his holy priests. Through the mediation of Jesus Christ, you offer spiritual sacrifices that please God.

9 But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.

IX. CONCLUSION:

We, as GOD's priest or people should keep the fire of our relationship burning in our hearts thru the Holy Spirit by our continual worship day and night.
