To be happy, we need to avoid wickedness, delight in God's Word, and be like a tree planted by streams of water, constantly nourished and fruitful.

Youth Group Plan: Pure Happiness (Psalm 1)

Youth Sermon: Pure Happiness

Introduction

You know how we all love a good song, right? Well, the Bible has its own playlist called the book of Psalms. It's like the ultimate playlist for every mood and moment in our lives. But some of us don't jam to it because it feels like trying to understand Shakespeare. So, let's break it down together, starting with Psalm 1.

Imagine you're a tree. Yeah, I know it sounds weird, but stick with me. Now, imagine you're planted next to a river, constantly getting water and nutrients. You'd grow big and strong, right? But what if you were planted in the desert, with no water in sight? You'd probably wither and die. That's the difference between living with God's Word and without it.

That's the difference between living with God's Word and without it.

Understanding Psalm 1

Psalm 1 tells us the secret to a happy life. It's not about the latest iPhone, the coolest sneakers, or the most followers on Instagram. It's about staying away from bad influences, standing up for what's right, and keeping a positive attitude.

It's about finding joy in God's Word, like your favorite song that you can't stop playing. It's about thinking deeply about it, like when you're trying to figure out the lyrics to a song. It's about making it a daily habit, like brushing your teeth or checking your phone.

When we do this, we're like that tree planted by the river, constantly getting what we need to grow and thrive. This leads to success in everything we do.

Application

So, how do we apply this to our lives? Simple. Start by reading a Psalm a day. It's like a daily dose of spiritual vitamins. Ask yourself, "What is God saying to me in this Psalm?" And then, live it out.

If you want Jesus to be part of your life and guide you, just say this simple prayer with me: "Jesus, I admit I mess up and need you. I want you to be the boss of my life."

If you prayed that prayer, give me a high five later and we can pray together.

So, there you have it. The secret to a happy life is not in things or popularity, but in God's Word. Let's make it our daily jam and watch how it changes our lives.

Closing Prayer

Let's pray.

God, we need your help to live a happy life. When we mess up, forgive us and give us the guts to stick with you every day. Amen.
