Summary: GOD IS TRUSTWORTHY AND FAITHFUL!
PSALMS
OBSERVATION:
THE BOOK OF PSALMS CONTAINS ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY POEMS WRITTEN THROUGHOUT ISRAEL’S HISTORY. KING DAVID PENNED ABOUT HALF OF THEM AND OTHER WRITERS THE REMAINDER.
INTERPRETATION:
PSALMS 118:8 (NKJV) IT IS BETTER TO TRUST IN THE LORD THAN TO PUT CONFIDENCE IN MAN.
POINTS TO PONDER:
THE PSALMIST WAS SURROUNDED BY STRESSFUL CIRCUMSTANCES. PAGANS WERE SITTING ON HIS DOORSTEP BENT FOR DESTRUCTION. PSALM 118:20 (NASB) ALL NATIONS SURROUND ME; IN THE NAME OF THE LORD, I WILL SURELY CUT THEM OFF.
THE PSALMIST PLACED HIS CONFIDENCE IN THE LORD RATHER THAN IN MAN. FELLOW BELIEVERS CAN ENCOURAGE YOU IN STRESSFUL TIMES BUT REMEMBER TO CALL UPON THE LORD FOR YOUR GREATEST STRENGTH. GOD USED MULTIPLE, COURAGEOUS MEN AND WOMEN THE BIBLE WHO PLACED THEIR TRUST IN HIM (MOSES, DANIEL, ESTHER, PAUL).
DAVID FOUND OUT THE HARD WAY YOU CANNOT ALWAYS RELY ON THE WORD OF SOME MEN. KING SAUL ATTEMPTED TO KILL DAVID OUT OF JEALOUSNESS! THIS WAS ONE OF DAVID’S GREATEST DISAPPOINTMENTS (REF: 1 SAMUEL 19: 10).
APPLICATION:
WHY SHOULD YOU TRUST IN THE LORD? MAN IS WEAK: GOD IS
ALMIGHTY! MAN IS SELFISH: GOD IS GENEROUS! MAN IS TREACHEROUS,
DECEITFUL: GOD IS TRUSTWORTHY AND FAITHFUL!
