Summary: Proverbs 11

Proverbs Chapter 11

11:1 – Dishonest scales are an abomination to the Lord, but a just weight is his delight:

11:2 – But when pride comes then comes shame; but with the humble is wisdom:

a. Proud people fear shame because it becomes a disgrace for them; God opposes the proud (James 4:6)

11:3 – The integrity of the upright will guide them; but the perversity of the unfaithful will destroy him.

a. Integrity acts as a guide as we live without shame / without secrets.

11:4 – Riches do not profit in the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from death:

a. Solomon recognizes the benefits and the limitations of riches/wealth. In this text, wealth does nothing.

11:5 – The righteousness of the blameless will directs his way, but the wicked will fall by his own wickedness.

a. Those who are blameless find direction and confidence in God.
