Prostitute Wages
Contributed by Bala Samson on Jul 11, 2024 (message contributor)
Summary: It may not be physical idols but when you forego prayer, Bible and close walk with God and give more importance to 'salary, promotion and making money' then God calls it prostitute wages.
Hosea 9:1 "Do not rejoice, Israel; do not be jubilant like the other nations. For you have been unfaithful to your God; you love the wages of a prostitute at every threshing floor."
" You love the wages of a prostitute" are very strong words against believers who live a double life of going to church and the temple, worshiping God and lusting after worldly desires. This is called adulterous life according to God!
It may not be physical idols but when you forego prayer, Bible and close walk with God and give more importance to 'salary, promotion and making money' then God calls it prostitute wages. Very eerie and strong words!
When I was admitted in the hospital couple of years ago, I heard the conversation of a nurse early one Sunday morning. She was doing night duty and going home, she was talking about going to church on Sunday morning but eventually she skipped church because she was tired. I asked a christian doctor "if he goes to church" he very carelessly and flippantly replied, 'not every Sunday but once a month' When I heard his reply I thought about his dead soul and started crying. Everyone in the room, including my husband were shocked. The doctor though a stranger, had respected me when he came to know I was a preacher and did not take any fees, so I was heart-broken about his spiritual condition. I daringly told him, 'honor the Sabbath day'. Be warned today!
Due to work load these days, believers skip church, Prayer and fellowship with believers ; however, God looks at such wages and says, ' these are prostitute wages.'. When Christians go abroad to middle Eastern countries to work and make money and don't find churches, they would say 'God understands me.' But God looks at you and says ''don't rejoice , all these are prostitute wages.' I quote Bible, so don't get angry with me.
"You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God." James 4:4
Let Christians read the entire Bible and know what God likes and what He dislikes! Warning comes to your desk today, who live a cool life, God hates anything and everything connected to idol worship.
