Plan for: Thanksgiving | Advent | Christmas
Encourages believers to trust in God's promises, endure life's storms with faith, and find comfort in the assurance of His word.
Welcome, brothers and sisters in Christ, to this blessed gathering where we come together as one family under God's loving gaze. It's a joy to see each one of you here today, brought together by His grace and united in His love.
As we gather in His name, we are reminded of the words of Dillon Burroughs, who once said, "Safety comes in our nearness to God, not in our distance from our enemies."
Today, we are here to reflect on the timeless truth of God's promises, the strength that comes from faith in the midst of storms, and the comfort we find in His word. Yes, my friends, we are here to talk about faith, hope, and assurance. But not just any faith, hope, or assurance - we are here to talk about the faith, hope, and assurance that comes from knowing and believing in our Almighty God.
When we look at the story of Noah, we see a man who had unwavering faith in God's promises. He trusted in God's word, even when it seemed impossible. This is a lesson for us all. We too must trust in God's promises, even when they seem impossible to us. We must remember that God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should change His mind. Does He speak and then not act? Does He promise and not fulfill?
God's promises are reliable: They are not like human promises, which can be broken or forgotten. God's promises are eternal and unchanging. They are as solid as the rock upon which we stand. When God makes a promise, He keeps it. This is a truth that we can cling to in times of uncertainty and doubt.
God's promises are for everyone: In the story of Noah, God made a covenant not only with Noah and his family, but with every living creature on earth. This shows us that God's promises are inclusive. They are not just for a select few, but for everyone who believes in Him. This is a comforting thought. No matter who we are or where we come from, we can be assured of God's promises.
God's promises are a sign of His love for us: The rainbow that God set in the clouds was a sign of His covenant with Noah and all living creatures. It was a visual reminder of His promise never to destroy the earth by flood again. This shows us that God's promises are not just words, but tangible signs of His love for us. They are reminders of His faithfulness and His commitment to us.
God's promises give us hope: In times of trouble, we can look to God's promises for comfort and reassurance. They remind us that God is in control and that He has a plan for us. They give us hope for the future, knowing that God is with us and that He will never leave us nor forsake us.
