B. THE TEN WORST OF OUR TIMES

1. Threat of terrorists, “Wars and rumors of war” (Matt. 24:6).

2. Growing demonic activity, cultic activity. “In latter times . . . giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons” (I Tim. 4:1).

3. Attacks on the integrity of the family. Adultery, no-fault divorce, same-sex marriages, polygamy, social service abuse. “In the last days . . . disobedient to parents” (II Tim. 3:1-2).

4. Abortions. Taking unborn life.

5. Political corruption, political hatred, i.e., democracy imploding.

6. Sexual abuse, homosexuality, pedophiles, pornography. “In the last days . . . without natural affection.”

7. Evil bent of arts, entertainment, sports, “Lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God . . . for of this sort are they which creep into houses and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts” (II Tim. 3:4-6, 7).

8. Run away greed. “You have heaped up treasure in the last days” (James 5:3). “Your riches are corrupted” (James 5:2).

9. Collapse of character, values, and brotherhood. “In the last days . . . people will love only themselves and their money . . . proud and

boastful . . . ungrateful thoroughly bad . . . hard headed . . . never given in to others . . . constant liars and trouble makers . . . cruel . . . sneer at those who try to do good . . . betraying their friends . . . hot headed” (II Tim. 3:1-4, LB).

10. Persecution of Christianity. In America soft persecution, abroad more martyrs in Foxes Book of Martyrs. “They shall deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you and ye shall be hated” (Matt. 24:9).

C. TEN RESPONSES OF CHRISTIANS

1. Work as diligently as possible for Christ while you wait for His appearing. In Thessalonica some quit working to wait for Jesus’ return. “We hear some of you are living idle lives, refusing to work . . . get to work” (II Thess. 3:11-12, LB).

2. Don’t give into enjoying the lust of the world, but live a separated life to God.

3. Invest your time, talent and treasure as though you will live a full life, yet live as though Jesus is coming today.

4. Don’t procrastinate doing your duty. Jesus may come today and you may leave unfulfilled obligations.

5. Fight evil in every way you can because it’s your holy nature and duty, yet realize evil will grow and flourish in the last day.

6. Test all religious leaders and trends with the Word of God, but many not sent from God. “Try the spirits” (I John 4:1). “In the last times, some will turn away from what they believe: they will follow

lying spirits, and teaching that comes from demons . . . they pretend to be religious, but their consciences are dead” (I Tim. 4:1-2, LB).

7. Pray against the growing spirit of darkness because it’s natural for a believer to oppose Satan, yet realize Satan’s system will grow and ultimately be the dominant influence in the world after the rapture.

8. Pray expectedly for revival of the institutional church, knowing the love of many will wax cold and the institutional church will decay. Why? Because God can do anything.

9. Support the (your) family and encourage procreation, even though the traditional family will decline and many children will be rebellious to parents.

10. Be willing to die for Christ in a world that will increasingly hate Christians, oppose you, and attempt to eliminate all those who are faithful to God.

If you have never really accepted Jesus as your personal Savior, would you do it right now? Do not delay or put it off. If you would like to receive Christ by faith, pray this simple prayer in your heart:

Dear Lord, I acknowledge that I am a sinner. I believe Jesus died for my sins on the cross, and rose again the third day. I repent of my sins. By faith I receive the Lord Jesus as my Savior. You promised to save me, and I believe You, because You are God and cannot lie. I believe right now that the Lord Jesus is my personal Savior, and that all my sins are forgiven through His precious blood. I thank You, dear Lord, for saving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

If you prayed that prayer, God heard you and saved you. I personally want to welcome you to the family of God. Please contact me at eltowns@liberty.edu and tell us about your salvation experience so that we can rejoice with you.
