"Obedience Must Follow the Experience"
Mark 1:40-45
This morning, we will break this passage down in four sections:
1. The CRY FOR AN EXPERIENCE
2. A COMPASSIONATE DELIVERANCE
3. A COMMAND FOR OBEDIENCE
4. The CALAMITY OF DISOBEDINCE
First, let?s take a look at the central character in this passage by looking at the:
I. CRY FOR AN EXPERIENCE {vs 40}
* This man had:
1. A Deep Hurt
* Leprosy was a hopeless situation
2. A Determined Heart
* He approached Jesus and begged from Him
3. A Dynamic Humility
* There was nothing arrogant in this man?s request...he was very humble
4. A Desperate Honesty
* Look at the verse again...his request was based on the condition of Jesus? willingness
* Somehow, he was resolved in knowing that Jesus? will was best for him
Now let?s look at Jesus by noticing a:
II. COMPASSIONATE DELIVERANCE {vs 41, 42}
* Jesus had a:
1. Supernatural Love
* Jesus will love the “unlovableâ€
2. Supernatural Touch
* Jesus will touch the “untouchableâ€
3.Supernatural Answer
* Jesus will do the “impossibleâ€
Following this miracle, Jesus gave a
III. COMMAND FOR OBEDIENCE {vs 43, 44}
* This command was:
1. Against common sense
* The ?natural? thing for this man to do would be to tell everyone about this miracle
2. According to the Scripture
* The command Jesus gave the man actually came from the Old Testament law.
* Jesus will always steer us to act according to what His Word says
Unfortunately, this man acted contrary to what Jesus said and we are shown the:
IV. CALAMITY OF DISOBEDIENCE {vs 45}
* What happens when we choose to do things ?our? way and not the Lord?s?
1. Hindrance
* Jesus’ movement was limited
2. Hardship
* Finding Jesus was more difficult
* But, keep in mind that there is still:
3. Hope
* Jesus is greater than your mistakes

This morning:
* Do you need an experience from the Lord?
* Have you followed your past experiences with disobedience?
* Approach the Lord today and allow Him to touch you again!
