Another Jesus
2 Cor. 11:3-4
"But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtlety, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
“For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him"
Paul warned the Church at Corinth about false teachers who preached "another Jesus". What would be considered "another Jesus?” The Greek word used in this Scripture verse is allos meaning different.
So what we are considering is a different Jesus, not the Jesus of the Bible, not the only begotten Son of God, but another Jesus - an impostor.
Paul tells us that if someone "cometh preaching another Jesus," we are to "bear with him." The word ‘bear’ here means, "to hold oneself up against" according to the Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible.
Paul warns, "I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed” (Gal. 1:6-9).
The term “Another gospel” means to pervert (to twist a thing around). Those who pervert the gospel, destroy it by having additions to grace, distorting the nature of the person and the work of Christ.
So if someone comes preaching things not according to the Bible we are to reject them and their doctrine, for "No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon" Matthew 6:24.
Churches and organizations may call themselves "Christian" but what they believe and teach about Jesus must be based upon what the Scriptures say about Jesus.
How can we know if a church organization, preacher or denomination is preaching "another Jesus?" By comparing their "Jesus" to the Scriptures.
The Scriptures declare that Jesus is the only Saviour
The Bible teaches that Jesus is the only saviour of the world. Jesus said "...I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” (John 14:6).
Jesus is not a way - He is the way. He is not just "a" truth - but the truth. Jesus is more than just a good man, or a teacher, or a prophet; He is the virgin-born, only begotten Son of God!
Those that teach that there are other ways to salvation are teaching, as the Apostle Paul said, "another gospel" and "another Jesus."
The Scriptures declare that Jesus is God-
Christ is the second person of the trinity. God did not create Jesus, as some teach, but He is the creator of all.
Jesus did not just speak for God, He spoke as God! Jesus said, "...he that hath seen me hath seen the Father..." (John 14:9).
The Bible says, "All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made" (John 1:3).
Jesus is the creator and maker of all things in heaven & earth.
The Scriptures declare that Jesus is the Savior of all Men-
Jesus died for all men. "And hath made of one blood all nations (people) of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation" (Acts 17:26).
1 John 4:20 says, "If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?”
We have made Jesus into what we want Him to be, rather than receiving Him as the Bible claims Him to be. We have, in essence, manufactured an altered version of the true Christ.
Which Jesus do you Follow?
There is a Jesus that says we are saved by grace, but no commitment of any kind is required. Many churches preach this Jesus today.
There is also a very popular Jesus that says you can smoke, get drunk, take drugs, watch filth on TV, and yet go to heaven. He is a Jesus of compromise; He never insists you must do God’s will.
There is a Jesus of men’s traditions and a Jesus that is what men want Him to be. There is a Jesus that we never have to suffer for. We can enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season, yet rest in hope that we will still go to heaven. Multitudes follow this Jesus
There is a manufactured Jesus that tells us we do not have to obey the Gospel, also that we do not have to obey our pastor. Many follow this Jesus.
There is a Jesus, revised by men that say that you do not have to keep his commandments. Yet there is a Jesus who says, keep the commandment of God, and the faith of Jesus.
Then there is a Jesus that few understand. Few want to know of His teachings or His ways, because He teaches that we shall perish if we do not submit to Him, to His Word.
Which Jesus are you following? The real Jesus or an Imposter?
