And the Walls Fell
Jos. 1:1-3
“Now after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD it came to pass, that the LORD spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ minister, saying,
“Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.
“Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.”
Joshua Served as Moses servant for 40 years
When Moses died - God choose Joshua to lead Israel into the promised land.
God had promised it to them but they had to go in and possess the land.
There were giants in the land-
The promised land does not represent heaven-
Because there are not giants in heaven.
Jericho stood between Israel and the promised land and it was surrounded by a giant wall.
These walls were strongholds.
2 Cor. 10:4-5
“(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;”
Each of us have strongholds in our lives-
A stronghold is place of safety - a castle
A place of strength - Not easily broken into
AND THE FALLS FELL!
1. Sanctify Yourself- Jos. 3:5-65
“And Joshua said unto the people, Sanctify yourselves: for tomorrow the LORD will do wonders among you.
“And Joshua spake unto the priests, saying, Take up the ark of the covenant, and pass over before the people. And they took up the ark of the covenant, and went before the people.”
Sanctify means separate-
The Bible says that we bought with a price
If we want the anointing in our lives-
We have to live a holy separated life
The Bible says in 1 John 2:15 “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.”
2 Cor. 6:17-18
“Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,
And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.”
We must separate ourselves from the world.
2. Obey God’s Word- Jos. 6:2-3
“And the LORD said unto Joshua, See, I have given into thine hand Jericho, and the king thereof, and the mighty men of valour.
“And ye shall compass the city, all ye men of war, and go round about the city once. Thus shalt thou do six days.”
God commanded Israel to march around the city seven days-
If we are going to see the strongholds in our lives fall
We must obey the Word
It is better to obey to sacrifice
Remember Naman the leper - Dipped in the Jordon seven times - He received from God through obedience.
3. Listen for the Trumpet- Jos. 6:5
“And it shall come to pass, that when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when ye hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall ascend up every man straight before him.
WHEN YOU HEAR THE SOUND OF THE TRUMPET
What does the trumpet stand for?
The voice of the Lord
Is. 58:1 “Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and show my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins.”
We’ve got to tune in to God’s voice
4. Shout the Victory- Jos. 6:20
“So the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets: and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.”
When did the walls fall?
After the trumpet sounded
And the people shouted
When they heard the trumpet sound
They shouted the victory and the walls fell
The strongholds were pulled down.
Someone today needs to shout the Victory
Because the walls are falling down!
