Introduction

Most of my life I have been involved with some phase of construction. I love old buildings and love to see the construction of a home and follow each phase of its process.

The Bible says our Christian lives are like the construction of a home.

This morning I would like to take you through the scriptures, so that we might understand how God wants our lives to be constructed.

Scripture

Matthew 7:24-29

Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:

[25] And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.

[26] And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:

[27] And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

[28] And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine:

[29] For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.

Lets examine these texts this morning and see how they apply to the construction of our Christian lives.

1. The Word of God, this is the Foundation of Our Lives

It is imperative that we heed to the Word of God, this is the foundation of our lives, and it will keep us from all harms.

Isaiah 28:16 tells us this foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation, is our perfect security. “Therefore thus saith the Lord God, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste. “

Should we seek any other foundational material for our lives, than the Word of God.

I Corinthians 3:11 says, “No other foundation can a man lay, than this one, which is Jesus Christ.”

We must constantly be working on our foundations as we continually build on our Christian lives.

I Timothy 6:19 informs us that “Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.”

Remember the world offers other materials to build our lives on and on the surface they appear to be solid.

2. The Foundation of God stands Sure.

II Timothy 2:19 enforces these verses by saying: "Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his and, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity."

Our lives our no different than a well-built house. The integrity of that house depends on the quality of its foundation. If the foundation is structurally in fault, then there can be serious problems with the house.

As I Peter 2:5 confirms our mission for God: "Ye also, as living stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual scarifies, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ."

Our house is a spiritual house.

3. Our Christian Lives Built on Christ.

"And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock." Matthew 7:25

Once we have built our lives on the firm foundation of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, this does not exempt us from the problems of the world.

The rains of the world will beat against our foundation and the tribulations of life will try to chip away from our foundation.

Satan shall test our foundation’s strength, but our security lies in rock that our salvation. That rock is Jesus Christ our Cornerstone, the Rock of Ages.

"And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand." Matthew 7:26

4. Its Important that we take Heed to the Word of God.

It’s important that we take heed to the Word of God, that we put it to practice in our lives daily. When we know what the Word of God says and do the opposite, we are fools.

"And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it." Matthew 7:27

If we neglect such a great calling in our lives, we shall perish. We can not build our lives like the world does. If we do will be found a fool. The world provides false trust. We shall fail spiritually. This is the judgment of the wicked, why would we want to be part of that? We already know who has won the war. Let’s not choose the wrong side!

"And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine: For the taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes." Matthew 7: 28,29

5. We must realize that the Word of God is Our Final Text.

We must realize that the Word of God is our final text. We cannot allow the ways of this world influence our lives.

The world would have you to believe that there are many religions and several ways to God. These are all lies. For there are but two religions and but one way to God.

Conclusion

There are two Religions are:

• The Religion of Do’s

All other religions say that you go to heaven by doing this. Religions of do’s.

• Religion of Done.

God says there is but one true religion and that is his. The religion of done. It is done. It is finished. It was accomplished on the cross.
