Repentance
Repentance is a must for a believer. Repentance is a complete change of the way you view sin. Instead of wanting to become materially rich your focus becomes doing the will of God. Repentance of sin is absolutely necessary for salvation.
Acts 2:38 – “Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let everyone of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
Repentance is necessary for the remission of sins and to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The Bible speaks of many sins that must be repented of. We are going to quote the Scriptures that contain these sins and then look at each one individually.
Romans 1:28-32 – And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; who knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only the same but also approve of those practicing them.
Galatians 5:19-21 – Now the works of the flesh are evident which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, out bursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissentions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the Kingdom of God.
Colossians 3:5-10 – Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth; fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness; which is idolatry. Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience, in which you yourselves once walked when you lived in them. But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth. Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him.
1 Corinthians 6:9-10 - Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the Kingdom of God.
Ephesians 4:31 – Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you with all malice.
2 Timothy 3:1-5 - For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!
Revelation 21:8 – But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.
I know that in the last issue of Desert Cry we looked at some of this. Since this issue of this magazine is based on salvation, we are attempting to cover all the sins that will send a person to hell.
Abominable – This is referring to those who do evil. The Bible says that men who dress like women and women who dress like men are performing an abomination to the Lord. Those who do things like vandalize, intentionally hurt other people, worship other gods, etc. are all committing abominations to the Lord.
Adultery – Those who continue in adultery will not inherit the Kingdom of God. Adultery is where a married person has a sexual relationship with someone besides the one he/she is married to. Jesus said that even to lust after a woman is the same as adultery because it is a sin in their heart. If you are involved in adultery whether it be doing the act or just lusting you need to repent of it. Pray for God to give you power over your lust. Looking at pornography is a form of adultery. If you struggle with lust avoid places where it is easy to lust such as beaches, bars, and so on. If you divorce your partner for reasons other than your spouse committing adultery on you and you marry someone else, you are in perpetual adultery. If you married someone who has already been married and divorced and the other person didn’t divorce because of their spouse committing adultery you are also committing adultery. Because of difficult wording let me try to give an example: A man named Johnny marries Sue. Sue was once married to Scott. Sue divorced Scott yet Scott never committed adultery on Sue. Both Johnny and Sue are now in perpetual adultery. Now, if Johnny wasn’t a Christian all along and neither was Sue and then both began new lives as Christians then I believe they are new creatures in Jesus and their sins are wiped away. If Johnny and Sue were Christians in the first place they would need to repent and seek after the wisdom of the Lord with all their hearts. But Christians who divorce and remarry for the wrong reasons while all along being Christians are in perpetual adultery since they should have known better in the first place.
Backbiters – I remember hanging out with other musicians and we would put down other’s abilities and pick on them while they were not there. We were backbiting. I have been involved with small groups of people that say negative things about others. Have you ever called someone stupid, an idiot, a jerk, or just simply make fun of someone when they are not there. It is very easy to slip into the sin of backbiting yet God takes it very seriously. We need to repent of this sin before it is too late.
Blasphemy – Any negative talk or degrading of God is blasphemy. Those who want to make a god to fit their desire are blaspheming the true God. TO talk evil of Jesus is blasphemy. To blaspheme the Holy Spirit is the only sin mentioned in the Bible that cannot be forgiven. To use God’s name as a cuss word is blasphemy. We must be careful as believers not to participate in any blasphemy.
Boasters – Boasters are those who brag about themselves. Don’t be like those preachers who like to boast about their accomplishments, their relationship with the Lord, how they happen to perform all these healings, how demons know their names, etc. Paul taught that if he must boast, he would boast of his weaknesses. Boasting has to do with pride and if you’re not humble, you cannot enter the gates of Heaven.
Clamor – This is a loud complaint or demand that causes an uproar. Be careful of how you say things to avoid causing an uproar. There are times that preaching the truth can cause an uproar, however, a believer must avoid causing an unnecessary uproar or riot and since the truth is necessary, you need to continue teaching the truth.
Covetousness/greed – Another word for covetousness is greed. Covetousness is having the attitude “I wish I had this, I wish I had that,” instead of being satisfied with what God gives you. There are certain things which are not wrong to want like more time to pray, brothers and sisters in Christ, knowledge, ministry tools, more finances to help the poor, etc. However, being covetous towards nice houses, nice cars, luxuries, expensive decorations, etc. is sin. We need to seek after the things of God instead of the riches of the world. Prosperity teachers teach that God wants all Christians to be rich. However, the Bible teaches us not to build up treasure on Earth, but build up treasure in Heaven. The prosperity movement is extremely dangerous and teaches people to covet riches. Those who covet worldly riches will not inherit the Kingdom of Heaven.
Cowardly – Cowards are those who live in fear. They fear things such as the mark of the beast and sometimes fall for the false Pre-tribulation rapture which states that Christians won’t be here for the antichrist (I am not saying that all who believe in the Pre-tribulation rapture are cowards but cowards grab a hold of this theory because it sounds good). Cowards will not go out and tell others about the Lord because of fear of persecution. Cowards fear rejection from family and friends when proclaiming the Lord to them. Perfect love casts out fear because you are no longer afraid of what man can do to you since you love others enough to share the Gospel with them. We must only have a fear of the Lord because he is the one that can kill both the soul and body.
Deceit/lying – Many have fallen bait to the sin of lying. The Bible says that liars will be thrown into the lake of fire. Lies come in many forms. Lies to protect one’s innocence is quite commonplace. Flattery is a form of lying. I have seen preachers flatter newcomers in the church to entice them to come back. Lying to your children by telling them that Santa Claus brings presents at Christmas time is a lie. It is quite a discouragement when a child finds out that there is no Santa Claus. Santa Claus has become the Christmas idol, yet he doesn’t exist. If you tell your child the lies regarding Santa Claus, the Easter bunny, and the tooth fairy and also teach them the truth about Jesus Christ, what is going to happen when they realize that what they were told about Santa, the Easter bunny, and the tooth fairy were all lies? They may end up believing that Jesus is a lie because it also takes faith to believe in Him. A person who is constantly exaggerating is lying. Lying is a sin that will keep a person out of Heaven. Whether you’re lying on your income taxes or getting your 12-year-old son a discount for those that are “11 and below” by telling them that your son is 11 it is lying.
Despisers of Good – Those who are against those that do good will not inherit the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those that seek after righteousness and holiness will enter.
Disobedient To Parents – Those that are disobedient to their parents will be judged. Good parents love their children and want the best for them. If you’re young, your parents may seem to go against your desires, however, in most cases, they are doing what they believe is best. If you practice obeying your parents while you are young, it will be easier to obey God, as you get older.
Drunkards – There is nowhere in the Bible where it says that having a glass of wine is a sin, however, when you drink enough to alter your mind, you are in sin. If you have a problem with drinking, stay away from bars and parties with alcohol. Some churches have groups that help those that struggle with drinking. Pray to God to break this bondage from your life.
Evil-mindedness/Evil Desire – Thinking about evil can keep you out of Heaven. Having thoughts on how to get revenge or how to hurt someone is being evil minded. Having your thoughts on sexual immorality is evil minded. Keep your thoughts on things that are pure. Being in this evil and corrupt world can make pure thinking extremely difficult. We must keep praying and focus on doing the work of the Lord to keep our mind pure.
Extortioners – This has to do with using wrong methods to get money. Using the Gospel for the purpose of making money is not right. It is one thing to live off the Gospel, but if your purpose for spreading the Gospel is to make money, you are in error. Selling products at over high prices is not something a Christian needs to do. If you are doing this, you need to repent and turn from your sin. Be fair in all your dealings with people and don’t rip anyone off.
Filthy Language/Evil Speaking – What do you talk about? Do you tell sexual jokes or any other jokes that are filthy? Do you always talk nagative about others or about the life God has give you? The way we talk needs to line up with the way Jesus talked. Whatever proceeds from the mouth must be out of purity and love. Evil speaking is speaking anything that is not Godly. Anything that is not spoken out of love is evil.
Form of godliness but denying the power – This is talking about those who go to church, do their good deeds, yet have denied God’s power, which would make them holy. The lukewarm church in Revelation is a perfect example. Those that don’t depend on God for everything deny His power. They worry about their food and shelter, which Jesus promised that they don’t need to worry about. They don’t trust God enough to totally give up their lives and submit to God. They don’t overcome their sins and make up excuses to why they sin. Those who say they can’t overcome sin are denying God’s power that can work in their life to overcome sin.
Fornication/Whoremongers – The word fornication means harlotry. Although this includes adultery, it also includes sex before marriage. If you continue in this sin, you will not inherit the Kingdom of God. You must strive to keep your mind pure and abstain from lustful thoughts. Fornication is a very serious sin and needs to be avoided. The Bible called this a sin against your body. Unmarried Christian couples need to avoid being in situations that could cause temptation. I have known couples that have not even kissed before their marriage and they end up having a blessed marriage. Parents need to teach their children to stay away from fornication and wait until marriage. Safe sex doesn’t make it a less of a sin.
Full of Envy/Jealousy – To be full of envy is to long after a neighbor’s belongings such as his wife, car, house, etc. Jealousy is a sin and a Christian has no need to be jealous because he has the Lord as his provider. We shouldn’t get jealous because we struggle financially while others are making millions of dollars. There is a reason God has given us what He has give us and he knows what is best for us.
Haters of God – Obviously, those who hate God will not make it to Heaven. However, there are those who call themselves ‘Christian’ yet their hearts hate God. If you have any love for money, you hate God. We need to love God with all our hearts and become separate from the world.
Hatred – The Apostle Paul said that if he has not love, he is nothing. Hatred or resentment of others is not a part of a believer’s life. If someone does the worst thing imaginable to you, you are to love that person. If someone came in and did the horrible act of murdering my family, I need to keep myself from hatred.
Headstrong – Headstrong is the attitude that says “I’m going to do it anyway whether it is right or wrong. A believer should read the Bible and want to follow God’s commandments and not look for excuses not to follow them. I have heard several people refuse to follow certain commandments because it was cultural. However, why would God put it in the Bible for all to see if they were only for a certain culture? We can’t pick and choose what commandments to follow but must desire to follow the commandments God has give us.
Heresies – Heresies are things that are opposed to the teachings of the Bible. Both the Mormon Church and Jehovah Witnesses teach heresy by denying the deity of Christ. Anyone who doesn’t preach that Jesus is Lord is a heretic. There is a heresy going around now that says all you have to do is say a sinner’s prayer to be saved instead of submitting your life fully to God. The belief of purgatory is a heresy. Some churches teach that praying to the dead (Mary & the saints) is the right thing to do even though the Bible condemns communicating with the dead.
Homosexuality/Sodomy – The term Sodomy originated with the city of Sodom which was destroyed because of its sin, especially when it came to homosexuality. Homosexuality is having same gender sexual intercourses. It is a sin if a man has sexual relations with a man and same with women. Homosexuality is a sin that needs to be struggled against if you want to make it to Heaven.
Idolatry – Those who idolize will not enter the Kingdom of God. Idolatry is putting anything before God. If you can’t give up your favorite TV show to spend time with the Lord, that TV show is an idol. If you go to a rock concert and get autographs, that is a form of idolatry. Many people make sports their idol, when they think that they can’t miss the super bowl, World Series, Olympics, or whatever sport they idolize. When we fear what men might think of us when we do the will of God, we have made man our idol. Some people idolize their cars, always trying to make them look super nice. Some idolize a woman’s body, which is not only idolatry, and these people will not inherit the Kingdom of God. If we put our wife, children, family, or friends before God we will not inherit the Kingdom of Heaven. Idolatry is a sin that both the Old Testament and New Testament constantly warn about so we must be extremely careful not to fall in sin. Idolatry can be anything that you seek to get your joy, comfort, and excitement out of beside the Lord.
Inventors of evil things – This includes those that write songs with bad lyrics, bad movies, or anything created to get revenge on someone. We must do everything we do in the name of the Lord so we don’t get led astray and do what’s evil.
Lewdness – Lewdness has to do with lustfulness and indecency. If a man lusts after a woman who is dressed immodestly, she is just as guilty as the man and vice versa. As Christians we need to be thoughtful of others and dress in a way that won’t cause them to sin.
Mark 9:42 - But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea.
If you are dressed in a way that would cause one to stumble, it is a serious sin. Make sure you dress in a way that won’t cause another to lust.
Lovers of Money – Jesus said that we must hate and despise money. A person who loves money will constantly be concerned about money. They love to go shopping and spending money on unnecessary belongings. "Christian" preachers will sell their materials at high prices so they can make a few extra bucks. A person who hates and despises money completely trusts in the Lord to take care of their needs so they are able to be more concerned about others. Those who love money will not surrender their home to others. When they have extra money, they buy extra things for themselves without helping those in need. If you serve money, then Jesus is not your master and therefore you are not saved. Some people give 10-15% of their income to the church while spending some of the rest on themselves. They are a servant to money. Remember when the widow gave all she was commended by Jesus. If you want to become a believer, then you need to learn to hate and despise money.
Lovers of Pleasure Rather Than Lovers Of God – There is so much this world has to offer. Do you love pleasure more than God? Do you spend your time playing video games, watching movies, watching sports, or do you spend your time pleasing God? Do you love God with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength? We are living in a world that loves pleasure and as believers we need to repent and turn our love toward God. There are times when the Lord allows us to have some fun, however, we need to do it in His will and not our own.
Maliciousness – Maliciousness has to do with not obeying the rules. Rebellion is a form of maliciousness. Those who think it is cool to disobey the laws of the land are malicious. When the law of the land comes in conflict with the law of God we ought to obey the law of God first. Getting your nose where it doesn’t belong such as snooping in other peoples’ private life is a form of maliciousness.
Men, lovers of themselves – You know you are a lover of yourself just by what you talk about. When you are with a group of people do you always try to talk about yourself? Do you look forward to telling others about yourself? When it comes to laying down your life you would rather not completely lay down your life for Christ but lay down enough to make yourself look good. You make sure you’re fed while others are starving around you. Even when you have it, you won’t help those in need unless it makes you feel good or look good. Do not become a lover of yourself but totally surrender your life to Christ.
Murder – Murdering is a sin that can send you to hell. Fortunately, God can forgive a sin as bad as murder like He did for the Apostle Paul. Murder doesn’t only include killing someone.
Matthew 5:21-22 – “You have heard that it was said to those of old ‘you shall not murder,’ and whoever murders will be in danger of the judgment. But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, “Race!” shall be in danger of the council. But whoever says, “You fool!” shall be in danger of hell fire.”
We see here that being angry at someone without a cause will be in danger of judgment. A selfish kind of anger is not a good cause. Being angry at what someone has done to you is a lack of forgiveness. When Jesus was on the cross He asked God to forgive them. The Apostle Stephen asked God to forgive those that were stoning him. When deceivers come into the church and lead people astray, believers have a right to be angry. Those that bring harm to little children will bring forth a righteous anger in those who love those children. The Bible says calling a person a fool puts someone in danger of Hell’s fire. Think twice before you call someone a fool, idiot, moron, stupid, dumb, or any such word.
Outburst of Wrath/Without Self-control – Losing your temper is something a believer needs to turn from. Often when people are angry they will slam their fist into something or throw something. Some parents will turn to child abuse or hurt one another. As believers, we need to be slow to anger.
Proud/haughty – Those who are proud will not inherit the Kingdom of God. Whether it is pride in your country, pride toward your accomplishments, pride because you sin less than others, or whatever, it is a sin. Believers are not to show off their trophies and awards. Beware of the pride that comes along with gaining wisdom in the Word of God. Beware of the pride when you look down on others that aren’t as far in their Christian walk as you are. Don’t fall into the trap of school pride thinking your school or your school’s sports team is better than others. Then there is the pride that we try to draw attention to ourselves by talking about ourselves all the time. A believer is to be humble and show love to others not being concerned about how good he is. Don’t brag about yourself to others or put yourself on a pedestal. If you are a church leader, don’t require church members to call you pastor, bishop, elder, deacon, reverend, father or any other name. Church leaders that do this are in sin and need to repent of it.
Revelries – This has to do with boisterious merrymaking or wild parties. Keep yourself in control and avoid such wildness.
Revilers – These are those that use abusive language. This includes swearing at people, calling people names, swearing at things, yelling in order to hurt someone, etc. Kids say nasty things to one another, adults say nasty things about one another. Those who participate in this behavior are putting themselves in danger of hell’s fire. In order to be fit for the Kingdom of God, you must be able to tame your tongue.
Selfish Ambition – Check your heart to make sure you have no selfish ambitions. Do you do everything as if you are doing it for the Lord? Do you do things for others because you love them, or do you do it for what they can give to you or to make yourself look good? A believer must have a selfless kind of love for God and for others. Those with selfish ambitions will not inherit the Kingdom of Heaven.
Sexual Immorality/passion – This includes any sexual act outside of a man/woman marriage. Adultery, pre-marital sex, lust, threesomes, sex with animals, sex with the dead, multiple wives (established in the New Testament), homosexuality, pornography, dressing purposely for people to lust after you, cyber-sex, phone sex are all examples of sexual immorality and will send you to hell if you don’t turn from it. Some of these are in more detail on this article.
Slander – Slander is when you talk about someone falsely, usually giving them a bad reputation. To go around and tell others lies about someone is a form of slander. Slander is almost like putting gossip and lying together. You need to turn from all these wicked sins when you give your life to the Lord. As Christians we are supposed to love one another and slander is not a form of love.
Sorcerers – This includes those who practice witchcraft, sorcery, wizardry, consulting the dead (includes praying to Mary or and other dead saint), psychics, etc. This word actually comes from the Greek word “pharmakeus” which means to be enchanted by drugs. This includes drugs like pot, crack, cocaine, heroin, etc. This may even include some of the prescription drugs, which alter the mind. If you are on drugs, practicing witchcraft, consulting with the dead, praying to anyone besides Jesus, you must repent of it.
Strife/Contentions/Dissentions – Strife is a sin that can send someone to hell. Turning people against each other in the church is a form of causing strife. Churches have become divided because certain people influence others to turn against each other. You must also be free from strife in your heart. If somebody does something against you, forgive them. If you feel like you can’t forgive someone, ask God to help you.
Thieves – Those that steal will not inherit the Kingdom of Heaven. Stealing can be taking anything that doesn’t belong to you. Taking a grape at a store or stealing a pencil from your friend is a form of stealing. Illegally downloading music and videos from the Internet is also a form of stealing and must be repented of. Stealing other people’s ideas and using them for your own benefit is thievery. Stealing needs to be repented of for one to inherit the Kingdom of Heaven.
Traitors – Those who betray people need to repent. Those who say they follow God, yet practice continual sin are traitors. They have been traitors to the Holy God. As Christians we have to be careful not to betray our brothers and sisters in Christ. Continue to love another.
Unbelievers – These are those who aren’t living by faith. They sometimes will say that they believe in Jesus but their life demonstrates the opposite. They don’t repent of their sins. They worry day to day about their basic needs being taken care of. Many struggle with worry to an extent. We must draw close to the Lord and trust in Him for everything. Pray for God to help you in areas where you struggle with unbelief.
Uncleanliness/Unholy – Jesus said He is coming back for a church without spot, wrinkle, or blemish. Cleanliness has to do with purity and holiness. A believer must walk in purity and holiness without being tainted by anything this world has to offer. Be careful of what you put in your mind, especially with the entertainment industry. Our minds and thought life need to remain pure. Cast down your imagination when it begins to dwell on sexual immorality, pride, greed, manipulation, hate, or anything other than pure thoughts.
Undiscerning – Discerning is to be able to tell the difference between good and evil. Someone who has a close relationship with God and studies the Bible will be able to discern good from evil. Make sure you keep close to God so you can discern. All who have received the Holy Spirit should be able to tell good from evil.
Unforgiving/Bitterness/Wrath/Anger – Forgiving is one of the toughest things to do but we must forgive others and we will be forgiven. It’s so easy to hold a grudge against someone. Believers must realize that it is God’s will that we forgive all and work toward that goal. Some hurts can be extremely painful. I have several hurts from the church that I need to forgive. Sometimes the only way to forgive someone is by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Unloving – Paul said that without love, we are nothing. Everything we do is in vein if we have no love. The Bible defines what love is in
1 Corinthians 13:4-7 : Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, it is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”
We must practice all these things. I go into more detail in the article Fruits Of The Spirit.
Unmerciful – Have you ever been in a position of authority and punished someone who was already very sorry for what they did? Let’s say your child did something wrong and you could tell that he regretted it. Did you still give him the same severe punishment that you would have given if he didn’t regret it? Being merciful is another must for believers. God will show mercy to those that give mercy.
Unthankful – Are you unthankful for the things God has given you? Do you complain about what you don’t have? If so, you need to repent of this sin. Learn to continually thank God for everything that he has given you. Be thankful for you salvation, for your family, for the life God has given you, and so on. Remember to always thank God when He answers your prayers.
Untrustworthy – Do you keep your word to others? If someone tells you something personal can they trust you not to go around telling people? Believers need to be trustworthy and reliable.
Violent/Brutal – If you’re the type of person who likes to get into fights and hurt people you are a violent person. Even to purposely hurt and cut yourself is a form of violence. Of course, murder is violence. Learn to love others instead of wanting to bring people pain.
Whisperers/Gossips – Gossiping will keep you out of Heaven. Gossiping includes telling people of other’s personal business, especially in a way to tear them down. A lot of people gossip in order to feel better about themselves. You may be telling others of a certain person’s sexual immorality and it may make you feel holier in God’s sight, but you are falling into the sins of gossip and pride. Pride is often the root of gossip. We will talk about others’ problems so we can feel better about ourselves. The Bible strictly warns that anyone who gossips or even condones it is deserving of death. Churches are destroyed by needless gossip. Gossip does not include warning against false teachers and false prophets. If your sister is going to marry someone you know will beat her, you have every right to warn her. Same thing with false teachers and prophets who are a danger to the church.
Wickedness – This includes plotting evil against one another or against God. Do you seek to bring harm to people? Do you plot to do evil? If so, you are practicing wickedness. You must turn from this sin and learn to love others, even your enemies.
A Christian cannot continue willfully in these sins.
Hebrews 10:26-27 - For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries.
Once we receive a knowledge of the truth, we cannot continue in willful sin. Those that continue in willful sin will no longer have a sacrifice for sins.
Hebrews 10:28-29 - Anyone who has rejected Moses’ law dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace?
To continue in willful sin is to trample the Son of God underfoot and count the blood of the covenant a common thing. It is an outright insult to the Spirit of Grace. Those who understand grace will seek to turn from their sins. As a believer, you need to seek the Lord in order to give you the strength to overcome sins that seem to have a strong hold. Someone who has turned their life over to Jesus will not desire to be disobedient to God. If you do sin, you have an advocate with the Father through Jesus Christ who will forgive you and you can continue on, however, you need to turn away from that sin. It will take time to grow closer to God. Don’t give up, if you struggle against sin but allow God to work on changing and purifying you then you will be saved.
