This morning I want to discuss---
The Fruit of the Spirit
Galatians 5:17-23
The fruit of the flesh is evident---
Easy to pick out— TO Judge, Condemn
If you walk according to the flesh--- YOU’LL BEAR THEM
It won’t be hard—It will just come Natural--- adultery, fornication, idolatry, hatred, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfishness, envy, drunkenness, etc.
Why do we do those things--- Vs. 17—We WANT TO—
Spirit wants to control who you are
BUT… BUT… BUT--- It’s in contrast to—the opposite-- The fruit of the Spirit is
This morning I want to Give you
3 Major Facts about FRUIT
FIRST FRUIT FACT
1. Your Spirit has all the Fruit--- All 9
Having trouble loving… Ain’t God’s fault--- Love’s in ya
Not real patient—You ain’t waiting on God---Patient’s is in Ya
They’re all in you—Quit praying for patience, joy, love---- You have them
Quit responding how your flesh want to---
USE YOUR SPIRIT
2 Peter 1:3-- His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue.
Everything we need--- IS IN US
So--- Even when our flesh doesn’t look so good--- These are in us
Submit to God--- and what is right and HOLY---
You won’t get them---- THEY’LL BEGIN TO COME OUT
John 15: 4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. 5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
You gotta plug into Jesus— Let Spirit GUIDE YOU--- You’ll bear fruit
W/O Him we can do nothing--- I MEAN NOTHING
You can’t be nice, loving, caring, faithful---
Second fruit fact
2. Fruit doesn’t make you a Christian
Fruit is evidence of The Spirit in Your life---
But Fruit doesn’t make you a Christian
We’re Christians because we believe in Jesus--- PERIOD
Religion will say—Try harder, Work Harder, Be better---
It’s not the fruit that makes you a Christian
Take an Apple Tree--- When you walk by and see an apple--- That’s an apple tree
If you walk by and there are no apples---- Is it still and APPLE TREE?---duh
Don’t be condemned—
There are times when Fruit is hard to find
KNOW WHO YOU ARE----
No matter what your branch looks like---- Your ROOT IS STILL JESUS
I want you to bear GREAT FRUIT of Spirit---
It doesn’t change the Root
God is in you—with you—near you—Beside you---
In EVERYTHING
God needs you--- THE FRUIT ISN”T ON THE ROOT—
It’s on YOU
We need to be in Christ—He needs us to bear fruit
Third FRUIT FACT
3.The fruit isn’t for the branch---
HE is the VINE—You’re the Branch---
Never seen a Branch eat an APPLE
Who is the fruit for---- PASSERSBY -----
Mark 4: 30 Then He said, “To what shall we liken the kingdom of God? Or with what parable shall we picture it? 31 It is like a mustard seed which, when it is sown on the ground, is smaller than all the seeds on earth; 32 but when it is sown, it grows up and becomes greater than all herbs, and shoots out large branches, so that the birds of the air may nest under its shade
Church we are here for other people---
For them to receive—Love, joy, peace---
So that when they’re tired---- NEST UNDER OUR SHADE
Churches splitting – RIGHT AND LEFT---
Cuz the saved and Secure---- Think Church is all about them
What am I getting?
Play my music, have my pew, dress like me, ….
We are to bear fruit so others can come into the FREEDOM TREE and rest
Relax--- Take part OF WHAT WE HAVE
