Romans 15:4 Tells us we can learn from the things written about people of faith written aforetime.
Exodus 2:9-10 Tells us that Moses was taken care of under the supervision of Pharaoh’s daughter.
Vs.19 He was even identified as an Egyptian after fleeing Egypt.
It would be in what I call the University of Desert where Moses became the man of God it was intended for him to be.
Acts 7:23-30 Tells us Moses was 40 years old when he fled Egypt and was 80 when God appeared unto him in the burning bush.
40 is a significant number in the Bible. It speaks of trials and testings.
Matt. 4:1-2 Jesus spent 40 days in the wilderness
We also know that the children of Israel spent 40 years in the wilderness.
I believe that in was in the University of Desert Moses learned patience. Romans 5:3-5 Tribulation worketh patience...
James 1:3-4 The trying of your faith worketh patience...
What can we learn from Moses?
1. He learned that he couldn’t accomplish the will of God in the arm of flesh.
Exodus 2:11 He saw the burdens of his brethren and discovered the ability to delivered them was beyond his own power.
Acts 7:23-27 They said unto him who made you ruler over us? I guess he did.
It would be in the desert he understood that he needed God despite the great education, and social status he got in Egypt.
Exodus 4:10 Shows us that he has come to himself as he speaks with God. "I am not eloquent..."
2. Moses never forgot where he came from
Acts 7:23 He understood though he was under the Pharaoh’s umbrella that those Israelites were his brethren.
I believe we can give his mother a great deal of credit for that, but understand he could have been succumbed by the wealth of Egypt.
Something interesting takes place before Moses would be used of God.
See: Exodus 4:20-26 God told Moses in verse 24 that He would kill him and verse 25 indicates that it involved the circumcision of the second son. Moses failed to have him circumcised and I believe it was due to the problem he had with his wife after circumcising the first boy. Notice she called him a bloody husband in verse 25. God tells Moses this must be done now!
God is teaching us something here. The only way into grace is through the circumcision of a man’s heart (Colossians 2:11)and one must be obedient to surrender himself unto the LORD.
3. Moses teaches us that no child is an accident
Hebrews 11:23 His parents saw that he was a proper child (no mistake, accident, or loser)
Exodus 1:17-22 The midwives in Egypt understood that it was the hand of God producing these baby Israelites and they fear God over Pharaoh.
The World says kill them and perhaps we have killed the child that was to give us the cure to cancer, or aids etc..,
No child is an accident and we as parents should see our children as Moses parents saw him "A proper child" Hebrews 11:23
4. Moses understood the value of God
Hebrews 11:25-27 He esteemed the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: He had respect unto the recompence of the reward.
5. Moses teaches us that faith is action
Hebrews 11:27 He forsook Eypgt (World)
Vs.28 He kept the passover (Worship)
Vs.29 They passed through the Rea Sea (Walk)
Faith calls us to do something!
Moses teaches that we can learn a lot from the Desert!
May God Bless You!
