"The Hand That Rocks The Cradle"
They say that man is mighty
He governs land and sea;
He wields a mighty scepter
On lower powers than he.
But mightier power and stronger
Man from his throne has hurled,
For the hand that rocks the cradle
Is that hand that rules the world.
"Mother Power"
Julia Ward Howe, at age ninety-one, said: "We talk of forty horse-power, but if we had forty
mother-power it would be the most wonderful force in the world."
Text:
Matthew 18:1
"At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven? 2 And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them, 3 And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. 4 Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven. 5 And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me. 6 But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea. 7 Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh!"
Intro:
When you think about what Jesus is saying you can see the heart of a mother.
Whether their son is an axe murderer or a saint
There daughter is a call girl or the soloist in the church choir
Momma loves her baby
This morning I want to honor the Mothers that are in this place
I want to tell you that you have been placed by God
You have been called for a great purpose
The nurturing that comes from your heart tells the wayward child there is still hope
The warmth that comes from your smile tells a child that even if they have failed miserably in every thing they have tried...I still believe in you.
It is that warmth from a mothers heart that makes a child feel loved & not despised
It is that caring touch from your hand that can calm the storm
There are many preachers that are preaching because...momma prayed
There are many singers singing about the King of Kings because....grandma wouldn’t give up
Why?....because a mother
Never gives up
Never loses hope
Always tries to see the best
The Woman Is
The nurturer
The lover
The one who seeks to keep balance in the family
Eve was to be a help meet
That means she was going to help Adam balance his duties
Eve was to be a companion
That means she was going to help Adam balance his emotions
The Woman Completes The Man “the 2 shall become one”
The Motherhood of America Under Attack
We Are In A Society Today
That has attempted to assassinate the hope of a mother
By taking the father out of the home
By replacing covering of love with the perversion of lust
Trying to be the provider and the nurturer, but with no covering

Proverbs 31:10-31
10Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
11The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.
12She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.
13She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.
14She is like the merchants’ ships; she bringeth her food from afar.
15She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.
16She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.
17She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.
18She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.
19She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.
20She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.
21She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.
22She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.
23Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.
24She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.
25Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.
26She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
27She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
28Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
29Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.
30Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.
31Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.
