A POSITION IN THE PALACE
2 Samuel 9:1-13 - 2 Samuel 9:32
3 Then the king said, “Is there not still someone of the house of Saul, to whom I may show the (unfailing, unsought, unlimited) kindness of God?” And Ziba said to the king, “There is still a son of Jonathan who is lame in his feet.”
2 Samuel 4:4 Jonathan, Saul’s son, had a son who was lame in his feet. He was five years old when the news about Saul and Jonathan came from Jezreel; and his nurse took him up and fled. And it happened, as she made haste to flee, that he fell and became lame. His name was Mephibosheth.
CRIPPLED BY CIRCUMSTANCES
He was crippled by circumstances.
PHYSICAL At 5yrs of age dropped and crippled in both feet.
EMOTIONAL At the same time lost both his Father Jonathan and his grandfather Saul to death.
SPIRITUAL Living in the desert of life. Living in fear.
2 Timothy 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
The Kings custom to put to death all from the opposing Royal Family. He had lost his rank, lost his prestige, lost his respectability, lost his mobility.
Mephibosheth means “destroying shame” or “scattering shame” Speaking death not life.

Romans 8:15-17 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.
