ADOPTED BY GOD!
When I was 22 my Mom sat me down one day to share something with me. She was very nervous and I couldn’t imagine what she was about to tell me. She started off by showing me a picture of man that I looked like. Who’s this “I said? Your Father. I just sat there stunned. I didn’t know what to say. I just sat there staring at this picture unable to comprehend this new reality. All these years the man that has been raising me is my Step Dad! I’m adopted? I just sat there. I just couldn’t believe it.
Finally, sensing my Mom’s horror I looked over to her and said “its o.k. Mom, God my heavenly Father has prepared me for this moment.” She let out a sigh of relief and we just talked. Where is he? Is he still alive? I had many questions. As I went to bed that night it just seemed like a dream but God put my heart at peace. It’s o.k. son I’m your Father. Comforted by His words I drifted off to sleep.
Eighteen years later my wife and I decided to adopt. It was an exciting time! I remember talking to my Mom about it and she was excited as well. Somehow the topic turned to abortion and my Mom said, “You know you was almost aborted.” What!!!!! What do you mean! She told me how she had me out of wedlock and my grandmother called up my aunt and told her to get rid of it. My grandmother sent her to my aunt who knew this place in Brooklyn New York where they did this stuff. My Mom thought she was going to visit my aunt and spend some vacation time, but something much evil was being planned.
My Mom recounts how one night my aunt asked her to go for a drive. She remembers getting out of the car and walking in a neighborhood talking with my aunt (my aunt was looking for the house where they killed children). She never found the place and my mother never knew the truth until years later. Again I sat there stunned thinking Mom if you have any more nuclear bombshells you’d like to tell me don’t wait another twenty years just tell me now!!!
My wife and I went on to adopt Kaili a beautiful baby girl and how joyful it’s been having her. It’s true that God works in mysteriously powerful ways.
God saved me from being aborted and years later saved me and put me in the ministry to save souls. One of those souls would be my Mother who was baptized into Christ in 1998! I remember sharing with her at her baptism that God foresaw this moment. He saved me Mom and has used me to save you. What a powerful time that was as I held her and immersed her under the water.
God is an amazing God and though others had a plan for me it was Gods plan that prevailed. I’ve been adopted twice and my greatest joy is being adopted by God the Father. Ephesians 1:5 says:
He predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will--to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.
He predestined me to be adopted! And you know what? It was His pleasure and will. O God I praise you for your glorious grace that you have lavished on my life and countless others. To you be all the glory! Amen.
