Let It Flow
Scripture Reference: Exodus 4:1-4 (KJV)
Exodus 4:1 And Moses answered and said, But, behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice: for they will say, The LORD hath not appeared unto thee. 2 And the LORD said unto him, What is that in thine hand? And he said, A rod. 3 And he said, Cast it on the ground. And he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from before it. 4 And the LORD said unto Moses, Put forth thine hand, and take it by the tail. And he put forth his hand, and caught it, and it became a rod in his hand:
INTRODUCTION
So many people think that they are waiting on God to bless them to start their ministry but in reality God is waiting you
God is waiting on you to use what He has already blessed you with for His glory
You may believe that you are waiting to get everything just how you think that it should be but God wants to use you just like you are
He knows everything about you and He knows what you have need of even before you ask (Matthew 6:8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.)
MAIN BODY
The biggest problem of lacking people of God is that they don’t really need what they are in front of God petitioning for any way
The thing that they are asking for would probably serve as a hindrance more than a help (James 4:3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.)
The bible declares and I believe that we have not because we ask amiss
Amiss - Away from the correct or expected course
We stand in the need (or at least we think) of so many things that God already knows will only detour us from His perfect will
Yet we allow these things to hinder us from moving forward in the Lord
God has promised that everything is His and he is just waiting for us to come to Him with all of our needs
He wants to bless us with the desires of our hearts but we insist on being like the beggar and desire crumbs off of the rich man’s table
(Luke 16:21 And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.)
We are not even asking for meat we are too busy begging for and desiring to be fed with crumbs
In our scripture for today we see God preparing to use Moses to perform His greatest act of deliverance in the bible (in my opinion)
Yet Moses has reasons to explain to God why it can not be done. As if God did not know what He was doing or had not already considered all things
God is doing the same thing right now in some of our lives with what we have
Though he may not need you to deliver a nation
He may simply need to use you to deliver the family down the street.
You may feel completely useless and unqualified to do the will of God but I can assure you that if he Has sent you then he has qualified you
When Moses allowed God to use the thing that He had in his hand (a rod) and probably carried everyday God turned it into something that brought immediate fear to him
We are carrying things that will demand immediate attention and fear from us if we allow God to convert it for His will
Some of us have been preparing and gathering so long that now we have too much stuff for God to use us
God may be requiring you to get rid of some things before He can use you while you think you need more (Judges 7:2 And the LORD said unto Gideon, The people that are with thee are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel vaunt themselves against me, saying, Mine own hand hath saved me.)
It is interesting that Moses doubted if the people would believe him before he even talked to them (verse 1 And Moses answered and said, But, behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice: for they will say, The LORD hath not appeared unto thee.)
This is just as many of us are doing right now, we are doubting that God can do what He is sending us out to do before we even set out to do it
Where is this doubt in God coming from?
I would usually like to say that Satan is planting this doubt in our mind however if we look closely Moses was in the presence of God
He was on Holy Ground (Exodus 3:5 And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.)
In other words this place was set apart that Moses be able to talk to God and Satan not be anywhere around
This is like many of us. We are yet blaming Satan and giving him too much credit to do things that he has absolutely no power to do in our lives
So I ask again what made Moses doubt God at a time like this
I can look at my own life right now and come up with some pretty convincing conclusions as to why Moses thought that he could not do what God was asking with what he already had
1. My past - There are some things that I have done in my past that should forbid me to ever be used by God in such a mighty way.
We should look at the past of Moses and I am sure that we can come with a similar conclusion
2. My resources - If I consider what I have and what God has called me to do there is no way that what I have in my hand is enough. I should only be able to go this far and do this much according to my calculations.
We should look at how God created the earth and He only needed to speak things into existence
3. The opposition - If I look at how powerful the structure that has been set against me is there is no way that I should ever expect to gain victory
We should notice that God allowed Moses to get a first hand look at the power of the Pharaoh so he had full knowledge of the force that he had to stand against
I could go on and on giving reasons why Moses could have thought it impossible to do what God was asking but in conclusion we just have to be willing to Let Go and Let It Flow
CONCLUSION
I am sure that if I use my own judgment and wisdom I will not be able to even carry out the things that God will have me to do today.
However if I depend on God, I am sure that I will come to realize that I can accomplish so much more than I ever even imagined if I only allow His word to flow through me
Let’s Pray:
Dear God I now realize and understand better that you are able to do anything. I stand before you right now thanking you for all that you have done in my life and asking you to forgive me for all of the things that I have done to stop you from having the total victory over every situation. I now see that it is not because of what I have or don’t have but it is simply because I have not allowed you to let your Spirit flow through me to get the most out of the things that you have already blessed me with. From this day forward I will be careful to be sure to allow your Spirit to flow through me as freely as you desire that you may have the victory over other people lives through my testimony. These prayers I pray right now in your precious son Jesus name right now.
Thank You. May God continue to bless you and keep you. Amen
