Let us keep the feast
1Co 5:8 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
Paganism origins of the current Christian feasts are obvious.
How to keep it? How to keep it in sincerity and truth?
1. By separating
1Co 10:21 Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord’s table, and of the table of devils.
Exo 5:1 And afterward Moses and Aaron went in, and told Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Let my people go, that they may hold a feast unto me in the wilderness.
2Ch 33:17 Nevertheless the people did sacrifice still in the high places, yet unto the LORD their God only.
Deut 12:30 Take heed to thyself that thou be not snared by following them, after that they be destroyed from before thee; and that thou enquire not after their gods, saying, How did these nations serve their gods? even so will I do likewise.
Leaven and poison have the same effect. Need just a little from.
2. By giving honor to the owner of the feast
Is Santa Claus the owner? Jesus is.
What did the wise men do? Worshiped Jesus only.
3. By accepting the gift of salvation
2Co 9:15 Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.
How to accept it?
Act 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
4. By Truth
Not by tradition ….
Col 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
Gal 4:9-10 But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage? Ye observe days, and months, and times, and years.
He only is our feast …
Joh 7:37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.
Keeping it not in sincerity and truth will always be rejected ….
Isa 1:14 Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hateth: they are a trouble unto me; I am weary to bear them.
Amos 5:21 I hate, I despise your feast days, and I will not smell in your solemn assemblies.
Amos 5:23 Take thou away from me the noise of thy songs; for I will not hear the melody of thy viols.
With whom are you celebrating?
To whom your giving honor when doing that?
Did you accept his gift?
In truth?
Only the true local church, the body of Christ meeting together for the Lord’s supper fulfills the requirements to keep such a feast, in sincerity and truth.
