BELIEVER’S TRAINING MANUAL (Chapter 3)
Finding the Place Where It is Written About You!
Intro – We discovered last week that the primary purpose of a believer is to believe. A believer is to be like a tree planted by the rivers of water; fixed and firm, stable and established, rooted and grounded in the written word of God. As a believer, it is important and it is imparative that we open up the book. We have to reach deep into God’s word to see what God says. We have to find out what God has written about you. You have to find the place where it is written in the bible about yourself. You find yourself by finding the place where it is written about you in the bible. You find your place when you find the place where it is written about you in the bible.
TEXT - Luke 4: 14-19
14 And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about. 15 And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all. 16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up for to read. 17 And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written, 18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, 19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
1. Jesus knew His designation because He was
able to find the place where it was written of
Himself.
A. He knew He was anointed
B. He knew what He was anointed to do (preach the
gospel to the poor, heal the brokenhearted,
preach deliverance to the captives and
recovering of sight to the blind, and to set
at liberty them that are bruised.)
C. He knew when He was anointed to do it. – NOW!!! (This is the acceptable year of the
Lord)
2. Jesus knew His destination, because He was able
to find the place where it was written of
Himself.
A. Sometimes your destination is not to where
but to who. (Who are you called to?)
1. He knew His destination was where ever
people were hurting. (The man in the
tombs. The woman at the well.)
B. Sometimes your destination is not to where
but to what. (What are you called to do?)
1. He knew His destination was to the cross.
(To die upon the cross to save that which
was lost. To die for our sins so we
could be born again.)
C. Sometimes your destination is not to where
but to when.
1. It’s called the appointed time (You
have an appointment with a promise
from God.
2. It’s called the set time (You set the
time. When you can believe it and you
can conceive it, then you can receive
it. It’s up to you! It’s not a
question of when will God do it. It is
a question of when will we believe. I
think it is about time we set the time.
3. Jesus knew no resignation, because He was able to find the place where it was written of Himself.
A. We have to be like Jesus and say
“There is no quit in my game.”
1. Even when John the Baptist began to
question the call of Jesus, Jesus did
not quit because he knew was written
about Himself.
2. Even after the devil tried to get Jesus to
question Himself, Jesus did not quit
because He knew what was written about
Himself
You have to find the place where it is written.
