3 Ways to get in God’s Will
Pastor Joe Bachman
How can you know what God’s will is for your life?
This is a question so many of us ask
Have you ever ask that question?
How about this question
How do I know if I am in God’s will?
Then what do we do we start reasoning thing out.
We start saying if I was in God’s will I would not be having so much trouble.
The truth is if your not having any trouble I would wonder if you are in God’s will
Now I am not saying if you have peace your not in God’s will
Because if you are in God’s will he will give you peace
This is not the peace that the world gives but the peace that he gives.
John 14:27
27 "Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.
NASU
You have to understand that just because you are going through troubles that does not mean that you are not in God’s will
You know you are in God’s will when you go through those problems and you look to God and you get that peace that only he can give.
John 16:33
33 "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."
NIV
Folks that’s a verse that every Christian can get excited about
In this world you will have trouble
Look at that statement
That doesn’t sound like a choice
You will have trouble
But just like the good God that he is he doesn’t leave you there look at the last part of that verse
But take heart! I have overcome the world."
That’s something we can get excited about today
He has overcome the world
No matter what the world throws at us he has overcome
And if he has overcome he can empower us to overcome
No matter what you are going through today you can overcome because he has overcome
What’s the devil’s favorite trick to try to bring down a Christian that he thinks might make a difference
Throw up to him his past
(example)
So what is the first thing you have to do to get into God’s will
PRAY
Luke 18:1
Now He was telling them a parable to show that at all times they ought to pray and not to lose heart,
NASU
How many of you have prayed so much for something and it seems like God is no where to be found
Then you think am I really in the will of God is that why he doesn’t seem to answer my prayers
I get that way
(Grandmother)
Randal McCloy
Pray that God will show you his will for your life
This might not happen overnight but it will happen
I prayed young
Then next thing you have to do and it is the hardest one that most people to do is
The 2nd thing to get in God’s will is
LISTEN
Ps 46:10
10 "Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth."
NIV
Have you ever tried to talk to someone who doesn’t listen
You can tell their minds are on 1000 other things
God must feel like that at times
Church My story
Story about me fasting
Feed my sheep
We talk to God then we must sit back and listen to what he has to say.
How does he talk to us
His word
Dreams
Others
The 3rd thing to get in God’s will is
ACT
After you pray and listen to God then you have to act on them
(Mark)
Keys to a 2006 Mustang
Mark 16:15
15 And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.
NASU
Luke 14:23
23 "And the master said to the slave, "Go out into the highways and along the hedges, and compel them to come in, so that my house may be filled.
NASU
so the 3 things you need to do are
pray
listen
then act
you can see Jesus himself doing all three of these things in the garden of Geseminee
listen to what he says
Luke 22:42
42 saying, "Father, if You are willing, remove this cup from Me; yet not My will, but Yours be done."
NASU
Talk about
Matt 6:9-13
9 "Pray, then, in this way:
’Our Father who is in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
10’Your kingdom come.
Your will be done,
On earth as it is in heaven.
11’Give us this day our daily bread.
12’And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13’And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil.[For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.]’
NASU
