“Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision! For the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision. The sun and moon will be darkened, and the stars no longer shine.” Joel 3:14-15
Decision is one thing that is very important in life. You can’t do without it but you need not to keep it. You act on it. Decisions if wrongly made result in fatal lose. It’s something that you are in control of. For you to read this article shows it’s by decision. In certain studies decision making can be treated as a subject because it is very important. How do you make your decisions? What decisions do you make and what pushes you into making them. How long do take in making decisions? Are you not in a valley of decision today?
Some people are quick to make decisions while others are slow. The time you take in making a decision determines how well you will achieve your objectives. It is important to note that decisions are not the major thing but the way and know how of how to achieve the object. Some people take time to make decisions to the point that when they are about to act on them it will be too late. There is figurative expression which says make hay while the sun still shines. On the other hand some people are quick to make wrong decisions to the fact that always live a life of regret. It is wise to take your time in making decision but it’s is beneficial to be quick in making right decisions.
Examinations are guided by time, some people fail not because they don’t know but they are slow in making decisions on how to express themselves, how to tackle questions and which questions to tackle first. This is also true with your life today. Do you know that you have a defined number of years to live on earth? With the coming and passing away of each day your years are getting less and less.
Some people waste their years in the valley of decision. Some wait to get at forty so that their life will begin. I have seen so many people who got at forty and nothing changed in their life, some who are even over forty and their life is actually retarding and becoming worse and worst. The majority are actually regretting and wish if they could be taken back even by five years. They have strong belief that they will be different people and surely they will be.
Some wait to first get a job, married, money, educated, known, etc so that their life gets better. It’s not very wrong to do that but I have also seen many who have waited for all that and as soon as they get all this their lives got worse. Many people are in the valley of decision. How long do you take to decide what you want to do tomorrow? What do wait for so that you can do that? Make your decisions in time and wisely.
The scripture above talks of the restoration of Judah. God Had promised restoration and He was instructing all people to get ready for the restoration. This is when He said to the weak be strong, say I am strong, saying to the farmers turn all your farming equipment to weapons of war and get ready for war because I want to restore you. This is when He is now saying multitudes and multitudes are in the valley of decision. Some think it’s a joke, some think it’s impossible while some are saying that’s madness. Even their oppressors couldn’t take it seriously and fail to see the trouble coming on them. This is very true about our lives today. How many people are saying its impossible that one day Jesus Christ shall return, its madness that this world and everything in it shall pass away, that its outrageous to say that we shall stand before God and be accountable of our own lives, works and words.
Multitudes and multitudes are in the valley of decision. It happened in Sodom and Gomorrah and many people perished by fire and burning sulphur , it happened in the times of Noah and many were swept away by the floods and died. Refuse to be in the valley of decision. Some people are saying I will seriously worship God, repent of my sins, born again and live for God next year. You are in the valley of decision if you are like that. Some are saying well this stuff is good and I really want to be a Christian but I know one day I will be a serious Christian, if you are like that you are in the valley of decision. Remember the best time is NOW.
So many people are in the valley of decision. They think that since they own clocks they own time. Having a clock is one thing and keeping time is another. What plans are you still deciding to tackle, how many things haven’t you finalized and fulfilled? How many times do you say ‘I will see, very soon, this year, etc’ when someone asked about a certain thing, How often do you rush to finish your assignments, task, duties and so forth? You are in a valley of decision.
Some say a man who plans to get saved (receive Jesus Christ as personal Lord and savior) at the twelfth hour dies at a minute to twelve. What are you waiting for to get serious about life, work, God, people, objectives and so forth? Do not settle in the valley of decision the day of the Lord is coming, sun and moon will be darkened and there will be no time, light for you to make and fulfill your decision. The best time is NOW. Make a definite, clear and serious decision and act on it.
Be serous about your life. Be serious about God. Be serious about your purpose. Be serious about time. Be serious about your decisions. You can make good and bad decisions it’s all up to you. The decisions to be born, born a male/female, white or black, die this year or next years are not yours. Now with the decisions that are within your reach make them quickly and wisely. Decisions such as being rich, successful, righteous, helpful, prayerful, happily married, etc are yours. Act on them with all your heart and with happiness. Come out of that valley of decision.
The only time you have is NOW, tomorrow is a miracle and yesterday is history. Come out of the valley of decision, be focused, be purposeful, and be serious about life!
