Pimp My Ride “Jesus Change My Life”
I don’t watch MTV! I find the VAST majority of what on MTV to be absolute trash. But, I have to admit, there is one show that I do enjoy watching when it’s on. The show’s title is somewhat misleading to us “older folks”. It’s called “Pimp My Ride”. It seems that the word “Pimp” doesn’t mean what is used to. To kids today it means to “make cool or just to be cool”
(Synopsis of show)
The host of the show go to home of someone who has ask the show to "pimp their ride". He takes their old beat-up car to "West Coast Customs" where they take the car and make it into something cool.
See, Jesus is all about taking “old beat-up lives, and making them new”
2 Cor. 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
Rev. 21:5 “And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new.”
1 They have to ask
No one get their car “pimped”, turned into something cool, without asking first.
For Jesus to change our lives, we must ask.
Rom. 10:13 “Anyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
2 They have to give up control
On the show they have to hand over their keys and let the host of the show drive away with their car.
We have to give up control of our lives.
Romans 8:8 That’s why those who are still under the control of their sinful nature can never please God. 9 But you are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you.
We must yield control to the Holy Spirit and let Him change us.
3 The changes may not be what they would have done
We must learn to pray as Jesus did, “not my will, but, Yours be done”
We may think we know what needs to be done to our lives.
Wheels (where you go)
There are places Christians should not go
Interiors (Your heart)
What you think about, your private thought
life should change
Exteriors (Dress, Modesty)
I know the Bible says that “Man looks at the
outside, God looks at the heart” But, God does
give us some defendant guidelines on what is
and is not appropriate ways for Christians to
dress. Modesty is the KEY.
Entertainment (What entertains should change)
Movies, Music, Jokes, Books, should be God
honoring.
Mechanicals (what “drives” you, Your passions)
The things that “drive” you, will change
4 But, it’s always better than they imagined
I’ve never heard anyone regret letting Jesus change their lives. Normally they say, it’ more than I imagined.
5 Praise, “Thanks MTV for pimping my ride”
“Thank You Jesus for changing my life” Praise the Lord
6 But, the cars will still need maintenance.
And our lives, even though changed by the Lord will still need daily upkeep.
Paul said “I die daily”. Daily we need to die to our old selves.
