The Miracle of the Blind man in Bethsaida
Mark 8:13-30 (8:22-26)
Miracles #24
I. The Context of the Miracle.
A. The lack of understanding of who Jesus is. 8:13-21
B. The Miracle. 8:22-26
C. The complete understanding of who Jesus is. 8:27-30
II. The Miracle.
A. The location is Bethsaida.
B. The blind man.
1. He was brought by others.
2. The others pleaded for Jesus to touch the man.
C. The response of Jesus.
1. Jesus took the man by the hand.
2. Jesus led him out of the city.
3. Jesus used spit and touch.
NOTE: The miracle was not complete on the first attempt. The man saw the first time blurry visions the second time he saw clearly.
D. The command of Jesus. Go to you house and your house only not to town and do not tell anyone
III. The lessons from the miracle.
NOTE: Why the two parts? Why was the healing not complete the first time? Was there something wrong with Jesus? Was there something wrong with the man?
A. Lesson One: There are those who Jesus will touch but they still do not have a complete understanding of who Jesus is.
This miracle was showing even though the man could see he could not see clearly many people who are saved do not completely understand who Jesus is and it takes time The an saw but blurry when Jesus touched him again it became clear.
In the context we see the Apostles not understanding what Jesus meant and then after the miracle we see them making the statement that he is the Messiah.
I do not believe that a lost person has to understand every thing about Jesus in order to be saved.
Romans 10:13 For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Romans 10:9 That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
B. Lesson two: Those people who get saved need to grow in understanding.
NOTE: I do not have all the answers and neither do you. I know a lot of the bible and I know a lot about what is in or not in the Bible. I can explain some things and there are some things I can explain. But I have not arrived. Paul the great Apostle that he was and a brilliant man still said he can see it all.
1 Corinthians 13:12 For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.
1 Corinthians 13:12 Now we see things imperfectly as in a poor mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God knows me now. (NLT)
C. Lesson three: We need to bring people to Jesus who need Jesus.
D. Lesson Four: We need to plead for Jesus to touch the people that we bring to Him
E. Lesson Five: We need to be willing to be led by Jesus. Do not bow up against Him.
F. Lesson Six: We need to let Jesus use what ever means he needs to use to bring us to a healthy relationship with Him.
G. Lesson Seven: We need to be obedient to Him in order to have a healthy relationship with Him
