Summary: God’s Sovernity

Intro: If I went to Trump towers and at the door, the doorman told me, I am the man in charge of this operation, even though he has a nice suit on, a name tag, and looks important, he isn’t in charge. Neither are the people working the front desk, or the cooks, or the bell hops or the people cleaning the rooms. Donald Trump is the man in charge, even though I could go there a million times and probably never see him there. God operates a bigger business, the world, and even though he lets me make decisions, chart my course, and have a say in things, He is still in charge. It is a wonderful thing to know, that He is in control, and with Him in our lives, everything is going to work out fine.

The C.E.O. Of The Top Floor

Isaiah 55:8-11

In these few verses, God reveals Himself in a very special way, that He operates at such a higher level than we do. There is no comparison between how we think, our small plans and ideas, our fears and worries, and the way God operates in power, Word, and Spirit. Today, I would like to give you how God is in control, and how His ways are different than ours.

I. He Always Is Positive, Never Negative—v.11 my word will never return to me empty. God is saying here, that His Word always works, it never fails, it never comes back void.

a. God is different than us, because He knows that it is all going to work out fine. All things work together for good, to them that love God, to them that are called according to His purpose.

b. God never says never—nothing is impossible with God.

c. Once God says it, nothing can ever change it, it will accomplish what it sets out to do. God’s Word in our lives works every time. One of the problems in our lives, is lack of application. If you don’t apply sunscreen you will get burned, if you don’t apply God’s Word to your life, you will fail.

II. You Can’t Get Him To Get Upset With You—v.8 My thoughts are not your thoughts.

a. many times we feel that things are out of control, but when you call on Jesus, all things are possible. You can’t get God to get upset with you, because He has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind.

b. Romans 12:2—be transformed by the renewing of your mind—God wants to place His Word into our minds, so that we will think on His terms. When we put on the helmet of salvation, our minds are protected from the voices of this world.

c. God’s plans for your life are secure—you are in good hands with the C.E.O. of the World.

III. He isn’t going to do things your way, He is going to do them His way—v.8b So many times we try to tell God what is best for us. But God knows better than we do what is best for us, and faith is trusting in the Lord with all our heart.

a. His ways are higher than our ways—that simply means sometimes we won’t understand what God is doing, but it will all work out for good.

b. His ways are better than our ways—God’s plans are better, because He doesn’t wait for the end to see the results, He is the end, and is the results.

c. His ways are surer than our ways—going through life by our plans is dangerous, there is a way that seems right unto a man, but the end is destruction.

Ill) John Osteen---church was about to purchase a great piece of property for what seemed to be a great price. As they were about to sign the papers, the Holy Spirit said, not now to Pastor Osteen. His board and the church was shocked, but believed God had spoken even though it looked like the best deal in town. One week later, the city council of Houston did a major rezoning of the city, and that property was zoned differently. The sellers contacted Pastor Osteen, and they got the property for ½ the original price.

IV. No Comparison—v.9—as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are His ways higher than our ways.

Here is just a short list of why you need to place your life in the care of the C.E.O. of the top floor.

1. He knows every detail of your life, from start to end from the foundation of the world. His ways are so much higher, He can go into your tomorrows before you arrive, and have a way of escape already charted out for you.

2. He secures victory—He has never lost a battle, the last chapter of the book says we win, and for those who seek after him he is a rewarder.

3. He has sat down—if you understand the word of God, Jesus is seated at the right hand of God. When someone is seated, it is finished. Death, hell, sin, satan, and every other foe in our lives are defeated if we will only claim the promise of God in our lives. No weapon formed against us shall prosper.

4. If it were not so, I would have told you—Jesus said, if I had lost, if I was defeated, if there was no victory, I would have told you, but there is a place prepared for you, and If I go, I will come again, that where I am, ye may be also.

Close: there are many people in battles, struggles, and for some, it seems that life is over-whelming. Let me encourage you today to give your life fully to the C.E.O. of the top floor.

God can make a way when there seems to be no way. Just like a man named Ricky who told me the most amazing story. He was a truck driver and got addicted to pills that helped him stay awake while driving long hauls. He finally ended up on Meth, and his life was totally out of control. But on father’s day 12 years ago, his young son Logan knocked on the bathroom door as he was about to do some more drugs, and asked, Dad, are you going to church with me and mommy today? He said, he went to church that day, walked up the altar, gave his heart to the Lord, and not only did the Lord save him, but he never had another desire for drugs, he had a complete and total deliverance.

The world says, that is impossible, but God’s ways are not our ways, God’s thoughts are not our thoughts, as high as the heavens are above the earth, are God’s ways above our ways.
