BLOODY HANDS, BURNED WORKS, & BROKEN HEARTS
AT THE JUDGMENT SEAT OF CHRIST
1 Corinthians 3:9-15 For we are labourers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building. According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
Ezekiel 33:1-9 Again the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Son of man, speak to the children of thy people, and say unto them, When I bring the sword upon a land, if the people of the land take a man of their coasts, and set him for their watchman: If when he seeth the sword come upon the land, he blow the trumpet, and warn the people; Then whosoever heareth the sound of the trumpet, and taketh not warning; if the sword come, and take him away, his blood shall be upon his own head. He heard the sound of the trumpet, and took not warning; his blood shall be upon him. But he that taketh warning shall deliver his soul. But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman’s hand. So thou, O son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth, and warn them from me. When I say unto the wicked, O wicked man, thou shalt surely die; if thou dost not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand. Nevertheless, if thou warn the wicked of his way to turn from it; if he do not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.
The Bible teaches us that we must also face the judgment. The Saints will face the Judgment Seat of Christ and the Sinners will face the White Throne Judgment of Rev 20.
At the Judgment Seat of Christ, the believers will be rewarded for their labors or reprimanded for their laziness. Today we look at this judgment.
I. BLOODY HANDS......Ezek 33:7-9
1. His Position.....V 7
Ezek 33:7 So thou, O son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth, and warn them from me.
a. God made the Choice....I have set
b. God gave Call.....I have set thee
c. God gave Commission...over the house of Israel
2. His Purpose....V 7
Ezek 33:7 So thou, O son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth, and warn them from me.
a. have a watch … be vigilant
b. hear the word … be obedient
c. hearld the warning … be valient
3. His Payday.....V 8-9
Ezek 33:8 When I say unto the wicked, O wicked man, thou shalt surely die; if thou dost not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.
Ezek 33:9 Nevertheless, if thou warn the wicked of his way to turn from it; if he do not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.
a. for failure.....V 8
Ezek 33:8 When I say unto the wicked, O wicked man, thou shalt surely die; if thou dost not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.
b. for faithfulness....V 9
Ezek 33:9 Nevertheless, if thou warn the wicked of his way to turn from it; if he do not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.
II. BURNED WORKS......I Cor 3:12-15
1. The manifestation....V 14
1 Cor 3:14 If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
2. The materials........V 12
1 Cor 3:12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
3. The motive......V 13, Size or SORT??????
1 Cor 3:13 Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.
III. BROKEN HEARTS........I Cor 3:14-15
Three things I believe will be revealed at this place.
1. The potential of our life....V14
1 Cor 3:14 If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
2. The price of our laziness..
3. The perishing of our labours...V 15
1 Cor 3:15 If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
Bloody hands deals with our soulwinning...
Burned works deals with our service...
Broken hearts deal with our selfishness...
Ill. One day an apartment building caught fire and the alarm system failed. One of the survivors reported that the first warning they heard were the screams of those who were already burning. Don’t let your friends and neighbors give that testimony at the judgement.
