“GET RIGHT WITH GOD.” (2Kings20:1) (TURN TO II KINGS 20)
INTRO:
Jesus is coming back soon! There are folks today that will be GLAD when this day comes……There are folks that will be SAD when this day comes. Will this be a GLAD day or a SAD day for you?
The most important thing you & I can do? For each of us to make sure that we are Right with God!!!
“Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
…because strait is the gate , and narrow is the way , which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.”(Matthew 7: 13-14)
Jesus says that “MANY” will travel the road to destruction and that only a “FEW” that will travel the road to eternal life…….Which road are you traveling?
(II Kings 20: verse 1)
I love this scripture…..Isaiah the Prophet came to Hezekiah and told him to “Get His House in Order”…… What in the world would you do today if a Prophet from God showed up & told you to GET YOUR HOUSE IN ORDER??
Basically Isaiah is saying here to Hezekiah…..You Better: GET RIGHT WITH GOD!!
(Hezekiah had the same sickness that the Assyrian army had, it was killing the Assyrians – they were trying to take over Jerusalem - Isaiah warned Hezekiah to prepare to die… His disease was fatal & unless God intervened in Mercy, Hezekiah would die)
We will ALL stand before the Judgment seat of Christ. We will all hear One of Two things…”Well done thou good and faithful servant”, or you could hear: “Depart from me ye workers of iniquity.”
When Jesus says only a few will go to Heaven and that many will go to hell that tells me that there are folks in the world today that may think they are Heaven bound when in fact they are hell bound.
I trust & pray that everyone here has their HOUSES IN ORDER?
I. YOUR SOUL IS BEING WEIGHED IN THE BALANCES:
“All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the Lord weigheth the Spirits.” (Proverbs 16:2)
It is so easy for man to find fault in others & not himself. Man can be very lenient and understanding & patient when it comes to his own self. It is easy to make excuses for our own sins…our own faults….
(good example is the white lie…if it is blue what is it? If it is hot pink what is it? It is still a lie, whether we can justify it or not.)
We can’t justify Sin….Sin separates us from God. Sin causes God to not hear our prayers. God does not turn his back on Sin…. The Judgment of God will be according to THE TRUTH…. Not what our neighbors, families, friends may have to say for us.
This AM let god inspect you….Let God search your heart, you are being weighed in the balances….what does He find??
(…..Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting.”(Dan.5:27)
Maybe you have been weighed & now found WANTING, or lacking. What are you lacking in order to make Heaven your home?
(The rich young ruler was concerned about eternal life enough to ask.)
(“Let me be weighed in an even balance, that God may know mine integrity.” (Job 31:6)
Job was the richest man in the east, he asked God to search his goods, to make sure that everything he had he obtained honestly. Job was willing to forfeit everything he had if there was one thing Job obtained dishonestly.
Are we willing to let God us? The Lord maybe warning someone thisAM
To SET OUR HOUSE IN ORDER.
II. IT’S LATER THAN YOU THINK:
I believe it is high time that the church get down to the “Nitty-Gritty”, time
Is running out….. People are leaving this world stepping out into eternity
every day & they are lost…without Jesus….living in Sin!!
You know, if there is anyone here thisAM that may be lost & undone they are very blessed to be able to make things right today! Judgment Day is not the time to find out that we have not got our house in order!
All some folks need to do? Just GET RIGHT WITH GOD!!
(Look what happened when EdgarWhisenhunt wrote the book “88 reasons Jesus could come in 1988, this caused folks to get scared & thought by chance that Jesus could very well have come?)
People Set Their Houses in Order because they were unsure! They :
- Made restitution for their wrongs
- They repented for sins that they had committed
- They apologized to folks they had wronged
- They lived like they were suppose to for a few days
Why? Because to a lot of people this was a wake-up call to get their lives straightened out….but how many after the scare died down, walked away thinking…”I knew He wasn’t coming back.”
“For many shall come in my name saying I am Christ; and shall deceive many. And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.” (Matthew 24:5-8)
….It’s later than what you think….
III. NOW IS THE APPROPRIATE TIME:
“For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of Salvation have I succourd thee: Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of Salvation.” (IICOR 6:2)
Not tomorrow…..Not next week…Not when I finally get the time to, BUT right now!! Hezekiah didn’t have time to think about it, Isaiah said to GET RIGHT WITH GOD------NOW!!!
Maybe the Lord has been dealing with you about things in your life. Maybe
there are things in your life that God is dealing with you about….
It maybe:
• A habit
• An attitude
• Jealously
• Bitterness
• Hate
• A hurt
A L T A R:
What is it this Morning that maybe keeping you from being everything that God wants to be….
Our Nation is growing away from God….. People don’t fear God anymore because most folks look at God as though He is a good ol’ boy….
I think God is talking to us today:
THUS SAITH THE LORD, SET THINE HOUSE IN ORDER; FOR THOU SHALT DIE, AND NOT LIVE………
Is your own house in order? You could very well be traveling down the wrong road…….Today there is still a chance…there is still hope!!!
