I WANNA BE A MAN LIKE THAT!
Hebrews 11
INTRODUCTION: Heroes. People we look up to, and some even idolize. Perhaps they are famous, or maybe they are a relative, a teacher or coach, or a neighbor. These are the people in which we see great qualities that we desire to have. These are the people who have achieved great things. We want to be like them, some way some how. I remember my sports heroes, Terry Bradshaw - standing in the poicketuntil the very last moment to deliver the winning touchdown pass, Pele- I worked and worked on kicking bicycle kicks until I mastered it. Some have business heroes like Sam Walton and Bill Gates. Successful businessmen often hold workshops so that others can learn their techniques and behaviors. Churches look to grow by sending their pastosrs to here from "successful" pasators who have grown their churches. We want to be like those who achieve, those who win, those who do great things!
Hebrews 11 is a roll call for some Heroes of the faith. These are men and women who were just like us, imperfect and frail, yet they are great because of their faith. I am going to give you a few of my biblical heroes, some are in the text others are not listed here but are heroes nonetheless. Each of these individuals sets a standard for us to follow.
