Life Starts When We Live Together
Scripture Reference: Psalms 133:1 (KJV)
Psalms 133:1 A Song of degrees of David. Behold how good and pleasant it is when brethren dwell together in unity!
I would like to take a brief moment to thank each and every person who receives my bible studies under regular basis. I am sure that not all of them are received by everybody but I am also sure that at least one of them has been glanced at. I promise that I will continue to do my very best with each and every bible study that I share with you. Amen
Since I have such a broad audience, I usually write for everyone but for today I am focusing on the brothers. Sisters this does not mean that you can’t pay attention and learn but in all actuality I am focusing on talking to all of my brothers today.
I would first like to take a brief moment of your time to share this short poem with you that I received over the internet. It is called:
The Road To Success
The road to success is not straight. There is a curve called Failure,
a loop called Confusion, speed bumps called Friends, red lights called
Enemies, caution lights called Family. You will have flats called Jobs.
But, if you have a spare called Determination, an engine called
Perseverance, insurance called Faith, a driver called Jesus, you will make
it to a place called Success.
I hope that you enjoyed this short poem and that you better understand the road to success.
Many people have confused success with material objects but they often leave you feeling void and lifeless. The real valuable things in life come from experiences shared with others. It is amazing how in your most desperate time of need we normally result to shutting the door and shutting out everything and everybody.
Sometimes we don’t even realize that Satan is on the attack until it is too late. The best trick that Satan ever performed was to convince the world that he wasn’t there. Many of us believe in Jesus Christ just as we do Satan. We don’t think that Jesus exist more than in a fictional character neither do we believe that Satan exist. But I am here to warn you of Satan and give you the good news of Jesus Christ. There are both real.
One interesting fact about Satan though is that he has not changed his tactics. He is up to same old tricks that he has always done. In each of our personal walks we are still struggling with the same things now that we were struggling with when we first came to Christ. Satan is still making a fool out of some of us the same as he did before we entered our relationship with Christ.
We wonder how he is still successful well I will tell you why. It is because we refuse to acknowledge the fact that he even exist. As long as we don’t put up any defense mechanism or grow closer to Christ then he will continue to drag us around like dead people.
Even though Satan still tries to enter in through the woman his ultimate goal is to take out the man. He knows that the man is the head of the household and once he is defeated then his battle gets easier. Looking at all of the single mom households in America’s society we should be able to clearly see that he is on the attack.
Today’s scripture talks about how much better it is when we deny Satan the right to destroy us and live together. Let’s look at this passage of scripture one word at a time.
Good – Jesus said and I believe that God is good all by himself (Mark 10:18 …There is none good but one, that is God).
The word good is a powerful and life changing word. When used correctly it can immediately change a situation (Psalm 145:9 The LORD is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works).
Pleasant - Just because something is good doesn’t mean that it gives pleasure.
The flu shot was good for the child but she did not enjoy taking it. However God said that not only is it good for brethren to live together but it is also pleasant.
Brethren – This is who the enemy wants to attack.
Many times people are confused when I use the word brother so I want to use these scriptures to help you understand better what I am talking about when I say brother.
Brother
(1.) In the natural and common sense (Matt. 1:2; Luke 3:1, 19).
(2.) A near relation, a cousin (Gen. 13:8; 14:16; Matt. 12:46; John 7:3; Acts 1:14; Gal. 1:19).
(3.) Simply a fellow-countryman (Matt. 5:47; Acts 3:22; Heb. 7:5).
(4.) A disciple or follower (Matt. 25:40; Heb. 2:11, 12).
(5.) One of the same faith (Amos 1:9; Acts 9:30; 11:29; 1 Cor. 5:11); whence the early disciples of our Lord were known to each other as brethren.
(6.) A colleague in office (Ezra 3:2; 1 Cor. 1:1; 2 Cor. 1:1).
(7.) A fellow-man (Gen. 9:5; 19:7; Matt. 5:22, 23, 24; 7:5; Heb. 2:17).
(8.) One beloved or closely united with another in affection (2 Sam. 1:26; Acts 6:3; 1 Thess. 5:1). Brethren of Jesus (Matt. 1:25; 12:46, 50: Mark 3:31, 32; Gal. 1:19; 1 Cor. 9:5, etc.) were probably the younger children of Joseph and Mary. Some have supposed that they may have been the children of Joseph by a former marriage, and others that they were the children of Mary, the Virgin’s sister, and wife of Cleophas. The first interpretation, however, is the most natural.
Dwell – To live in (Ephesians 3:17-19). Jesus says he wants to dwell with you.
Many want to walk around with Jesus in our back pocket in case of danger but Jesus wants to live inside of your heart. You may never have the chance to reach in your back pocket or you may change pants but when Jesus is in your heart he is truly always there when you need him.
Together – Walking the same way. Webster’s definitions: (adverb) in or into one place, mass collection, or group. (adjective) appropriately prepared, organized, or balanced
In order for us to walk together the first thing that we would have to do is agree. When we agree we are already destroying Satan’s kingdom because confusion can not exist. He is the author of confusion.
Unity – (Ephesians 4:3) More than one person under the same rules headed the same way. Webster: The quality or state of not being multitude. Oneness
Satan will fear you even more after he realizes that you are not alone. Also you can be more effective when you have someone to check you and ensure that you are headed in the right direction.
Conclusion
Have you ever noticed how brethren find it easy to try and do everything on their own. As much as we need one another we find ourselves more often than not turning away the person that is trying to help us. Who knows maybe God has sent that person your way to be a blessing in your life.
Although I am sure that God would not have us to depend on anyone except Him for our every need, he does want us to completely rule out working with our brothers to get certain things done.
Satan has come and completely tricked us into not working with anyone for anything. We are trying to do it all by ourselves.
Brothers don’t be fooled. God did not intend for us to be this way.
I would like to take this moment to assure you that I, for one, need your help. Though God has blessed me tremendously to do great things for Him I have come to the sobering reality that I cannot do this work alone.
Let’s Pray
Thank You. May God continue to bless you and keep you. Amen
