What Makes Us Unique?
1 Peter 2:9-10, Romans 8:14
Today I want to address the values that drive me. As your pastor, I want you to know where we are going, and why we’re going that direction.
Values are
*what is valuable to our church. (if we aren’t reflecting this value, we’re not a church)
*attitudes & qualities we never sacrifice. (I’ll resign before I give in on this)
*assumptions that guide our actions. (this is so basic to me, I almost do it without thinking)
*confirmed by our actions NOT by our words. (show me your day planner and your checkbook, and I’ll tell you what your values are)
Values enable us to
*formulate goals & set direction
*demonstrate our convictions & priorities
* reflect our distinctiveness
Values We Can Adopt From 1 Peter 2:9-10:
1. S ignificance Each of us is
*loved by God
* important to His kingdom
2. P otential Each of us is
* empowered by the Holy Spirit
* capable of fruitful ministry
3. I ntimacy Each of us is capable of intimacy
*with God
1)created to know God
2)created to commune with God
*with each other
1) we need each other
2) we are needed by each other
4. R elevance Everything we do
*is meaningful towards your growth
*makes a difference in God’s kingdom
5. I llumination To each of us
*God speaks & leads through
1)Bible 2)Prayer
3)the church 4)circumstances
*God makes His will known
6. T ransformation Each of us
*needs to be saved
*needs to grow
*needs to reproduce
For as many as are led by the SPIRIT of God, these are sons of God.
