Got Real M.I.L.K.?
MIGHTY
INCREDIBLE
LOVING
KING ? Jesus
1 Peter Ch2 Vv2-3
John Ch15 Vv1-8
I want to know this morning, how many of us Got Real M.I.L.K.? I know everyone of us have heard the saying “milk does your body good.” They have even went as far as saying that at least 3 cups of milk a day will help you keep off the unwanted pounds. The doctors have stressed how important it is to give our kids milk in hopes that they will grow up with strong bones because of the calcium milk has. I have even read because of the proper amount of milk in your daily diet, it will make you have stronger bones when you get over the age of fifty. So, as I began to think about what milk could do for my body and how important it was to my health, the Spirit of the Lord caused me to take a deeper look at the word “milk.” While taking a deeper look, I knew the Lord was about to give me a great word that I must share with whomever I can.
Before we look at what kind of milk we have in Jesus, I want you to see what you really have in the milk the world offers you. Because when we finish this message, we want you to really know if you Got Real M.I.L.K.!
The role of milk is to nourish, provide immune protection and for bone strengthening. Milk has been a food source for humans since prehistoric times. It comes from humans, goats, buffalos, sheep, yaks, domesticated cows. Milk and honey are the only articles of a diet whose sole function in nature is for food. It is not surprising, therefore, that the nutritional value of milk is high. Milk is made up of :
87.3% water
3.9 % milkfat
8.8% solids-not-fat
which in turn, is how we get milk. While all this is interesting to know, milk in which the world offers is only good for your physical body and that’s all. In all of my research on milk, I found nothing about milk being able to sustain our lives. As a matter of fact, if you don’t keep it at the right temperature, it will spoil. So when we really look at this earthly milk, it needs us to take care of it instead of it taking care of us. My question is does this milk really do our body good? This is why I want to make sure this morning that you have Got Real M.I.L.K. ?
This Real M.I.L.K. I am talking about is the best kind of milk you can ever have. Not only can this milk sustain us, but it can keep us both physically and spiritually. Now this milk really does the body good! I am talking about a Mighty, Incredible, Loving, King. It should be our desire to drink this milk all day long. If we drink this milk everyday, it will cause us to grow up and become mature in our faith in Him.
In our text, we see that 1 Peter Ch2Vv2-3 says: “(2)As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: (3) If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious. Peter is teaching us that we should yearn to grow in the Lord. Because we know that the Lord is good, I don’t know this morning about you, but my total desire is to serve the Mighty, Incredible, Loving, King (Jesus)! In order for you to want this milk, you must see your need for it. But it is really sad that many don’t ever see the need; and so, they never mature. We must grow in his word because it will cause our relationship with the Lord to be stronger.
Jesus is a Mighty, Incredible, Loving, King. Jesus is our everything!
He is:
Mighty: Ephesians Ch1Vv19 says: “ And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power” God’s incomparable power is available to help those who believe. Jesus’ power is so mighty that he changed situations throughout the Bible. We must learn how to allow the mighty power of Jesus to work in our lives.
Incredible: The things that Christ does for us, each and everyday in spite of how we did him in itself makes him Incredible. But Paul better tells us how incredible Christ is through his speech before King Agrippa in the 26th chapter of the book of Acts. For even Paul uses the word incredible in verse 8. He says, “Why should it be thought a thing incredible with you, that God should raise the dead?” Paul talked about Jesus being so incredible that later in verse 28, we find King Agrippa saying “Almost thou persuades me to be a Christian.” Jesus is so incredible that just the very mention of his name can change your heart, if you will accept who he really is.
Loving: We know that Jesus loves us all no matter where we come from in life. God is nothing but the purest of love and to know God is to know love. For 1John Ch4Vv8 says, “He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.” John teaches that “God is love” not “love is God.” In order for us to really understand love, we must look to a all loving King Jesus. Jesus is always just in his love that he shows the world. The world has this messed up view about love. The world has taught that love is something that makes you feel good and this is not the case at all. So whatever you have to do to make you feel good, do it no matter what it may cost someone else. This is not real love. God teaches us to love everyone with an unselfish love in which he shows us. This is how you will know if you “Got Real M.I.L.K.--Jesus.” Jesus tells us in the book of John Ch15 Vv10, “If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.” All Jesus is asking us to do is obey his word. We must always obey the holy word of Jesus Christ. He teaches us to show love because he has given us the greatest example. John 3:16 clearly shows us this. Also Jesus teaches us in the 15th chapter of John verses 12-13: “This is my commandment, that ye love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” To know Jesus is to give all the love you can and then a little more.
King: Jesus is the only true King. We should make Christ King over every part of our lives. When we learn to do this, we will see him truly working in our everyday life. The best way I know to tell you about Jesus being the King of Kings is to say it like Paul told Timothy in 2 Timothy the 6th chapter verses 14-15, “That you keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ: Which in his times he shall show, who is the blessed and only Ruler, the King of Kings, and Lord of Lords.” We must make Christ King over everything no matter what. He is the King!
You may be saying now pastor you have told me about this “Real M.I.L.K..” How can I really know if I have it or not ? Well Jesus said in the book of John Ch15 Vv1-8 these words, “ I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.”
So if you “Got Real M.I.L.K.,” Jesus said you will abide in him and he in you. You will also bring forth fruit. If you abide in him and his word abide in you , you shall ask what you will , and it shall be done unto you.
