WHAT KIND OF EXCUSE DO YOU HAVE?
LUKE 14:16 – 24
Inside this parable I could go on all night
But I probably better not!!
First of all we should plainly see that the man giving
This big supper is God
And the slave He sent out to bring people in
Was No doubt Jesus!!!
But here we see that everyone has an excuse
As to why they can’t come!!
They think they’re all good reasons But
I’m gonna prove by scripture that there’s
Not ONE GOOD EXCUSE HERE
That they can make and there’s none for
You either tonight!!!
Nor is there any for those that ain’t here!
This Man is sending out His slave out into the
Streets and into the lanes of this city!
And we should understand that in the streets
there are only other Jews
God hadn’t gave up on the Jews then and
He hasn’t given up on them today AMEN?
SO WHAT happened when the slave went
Out and invited everyone in that He could?
THERE’S STILL MORE ROOM!!!!!
Its amazing to me what excuses people make
For not coming to Christ!!
Some people are too busy to bother
Some are to clever to come
Some are too religious to repent
Some are too worldly to want Jesus in their life
Some are too proud to pray
BUT THE LORD JESUS ONCE FOCUSSED
ON THIS PROBLEM!
He told this story of three kinds of men
Three kind with their empty reasons
For not coming, even with an invitation
And with a sure hand He drew them a picture
A picture of the consequences that’s gonna come
With denying Jesus Christ’s invitation!
THEY REJECTED HIS INVITATION
OH WELL
THEY’RE GONNA GET REJECTED TOO
BUT NOT WITH ANY LAME EXCUSE
LIKE THEY HAD!!!
What I’m saying here tonight people is
You better not be making any excuse’s because
There’s plenty of room here in the church house.
That old saying says there’s always room for
One more!!!!!
And in today’s church there’s room for plenty
There’s always room for one more in Heaven too
And for those of you who refuse the invitation
There’s plenty of room in that terrible place
Called hell tonight as well AMEN!!
God was angry here because he invited his
Chosen people to come to His dinner
And they all made excuse after excuse after excuse
Our parable only teaches us of three excuses
But I’d say that there were many more than that
We make excuses today just like the people made
Back in Jesus’ day
But listen to me people one of these days the
Excuses are gonna run out!!!
Your gonna find yourself wishin that you’d
Never made an excuse!
When your cast into that place of outer darkness
Where the worm dieth not and the fire is
Not quenched!!!
Jesus said I will build MY CHURCH!!
People nobody said there was gonna be a
Perfect Christian and there ain’t gonna be no
Perfect Churches either!
Nor will there be any perfect Pastors or
Evangelists or Deacons or Sunday School Teachers
Nor will there be a perfect congregation!!
People you’re invited tonight to accept Salvation
And This is the call of God!!!
God is calling his Church to Repentance!
Romans 1:16 says
I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ
For it is the power of God unto Salvation
To every one that believeth
To the Jew first and also to the Greek
This is telling me that Salvation is for the Jew First But also for anyone else who will believe!
Salvation came through the father of the Jews
Father Abraham
The Jews were the care takers of the word of God
And they were to have the first opportunity to
Be saved but they added to the law
And cut it down to be tradition
PROVERBS CHAPTER 9 SAYS:
She hath killed her beasts; she hath mingled
Her wine she hath also furnished her table
She hath sent forth her maidens: she crieth
Upon the highest places of the city
Whoso is simple let him turn in hither as for him
That wanteth understanding she saith to him
Come eat of my bread, and drink of the wine
Which I have mingled!
Back in this day the people had rejected God
And they were doing just what they
Wanted to do!!!
Does this remind you of anything that’s
Happening today???
This old world has turned its back on God
People He is worth of our Praise and worship
How can people say they don’t believe in God
Just look around us at all the beauties
GOD IS REAL TONIGHT FOLKS!!!
BUT I WONDER JUST HOW LONG HE’S
GONNA KEEP ON LETTING US SLIDE!!
WITH THE ABORTIONS, AND HOMO’S
AND THE LESBIANS, AND ADULTERERS
AND FORNICATORS AND THE MURDERERS
AND RAPISTS AND THE LIST GOES ON
AND ON AND ON!!!!
In VS. 18 there was an excuse - I have bought a
Piece of ground and I must needs go and see it
Do you think this man bought land and he
Didn’t even go look at it first???
I DON’T THINK SO!!!!!
And further more we aren’t supposed to
Let the affairs of personal stuff keep us
From the Lord!!!
Just what do you think that our creator
All mighty God thinks of us when He invites
Us to His dinner and we make excuses???
People don’t start making excuses to God
For the things that you own instead of making
The choice to serve God!!!!AMEN
In VS. 19 the excuse was I have bought five
Yoke of oxen and I go to prove them
This no-doubt was a business venture in an
Attempt to make money!!
AND AGAIN TO YOU THINK THIS MAN
BOUGHT OXEN AND DIDN’T TRY THEM
OUT FIRST???
THAT WOULD BE LIKE YOU BUYING A
USED CAR WITHOUT LOOKING AT IT
OR DRIVING IT FIRST!!
We should never let the affairs of business
Keep us from serving the Lord!!!
Don’t get me wrong if you are scheduled to
Be at work that’s a little different!!
We have to support our families!!
1st Timothy says:
but if any provide not for his own, and specially
for those of his own house, he hath denied
the faith, and is worse than an infidel!!!
But we should never, never be concerned more
About making money, than we are about
Serving God!!
Here in our parable this person is more concerned
About his pocket book than He is about his
Life after this one!!!
We’re all concerned to much about when we
Get old
We’re concerned about our retirement and our
401K
and our life Insurance and our bank accounts
I THINK ITS ABOUT TIME WE START
THINKING ABOUT OUR ETERNAL LIFE
AND WE NEED TO START THINKING ABOUT
WHAT’S GONNA HAPPEN TO US
WHEN THE RAPTURE TAKES PLACE
AND WE NEED TO BE WORRIED ABOUT
WHATS GONNA HAPPEN
WHEN JESUS CHRIST SPLITS THE
EASTERN SKY
AND WE NEED TO START WORRING
RIGHT NOW WHATS GONNA HAPPEN
WHEN WE HEAR THAT TRUMPET SOUND!
AND WE NEED TO START THINKING
RIGHT NOW IF WE ARE GONNA SERVE
JESUS CHRIST OR THE DEVIL
AND WE NEED TO THINK ABOUT WHETHER
WE WANT TO WALK ON STREETS OF
GOLD OR DO WE WANT TO SUFFER IN
THAT TERRIBLE PLACE CALLED HELL
TONIGHT!!!!
WHAT KIND OF EXCUSE HAVE YOU
GOT TONIGHT, AND KNOWING, OR - YOU
SHOULD KNOW, THAT GOD OUR CREATOR
IS WILLING AND ABLE TO SUPPLY ALL
OF OUR NEEDS PROVIDING WE ABIDE
BY HIS COMMANDMENTS!!
IF YOU WANT TO LAY UP TREASURES
IT BETTER BE FOR YOUR HEAVENLY
HOME IN THE SKY!!!!
Then the third said I have married a wife
And therefore I cannot come!!!
People when I go to serve the Lord I take my
Wife with me every chance that I get!!!
But I understand that back in the day when you
First got married they couldn’t even call you ‘
Into the military service because it was your duty
To take care of your wife the first year of marriage
But the bible is telling us here that this is
Not even an excuse either!!!!
So here God’s word is telling us that
There is no excuse that we can use to keep
Us from putting God First among all things
He is the most important thing to any of us!!!
WE ARE FULL OF LAME EXCUSES TODAY
We had a tent revival not very long ago and I seriously heard the Excuse:
I ALREADY PROMISED MY BROTHER THAT I WOULD GO FISHIN WITH HIM!!!
I’M SERIOUS!!!
HERE’S SOMETHING THAT I’M CERTAIN
THAT MANY OF YOU HAVE WITNESSED!
The wife won’t go to church because the husband
Won’t go: OR
The husband won’t go because the wife won’t go
Jean and I even went through this to some point
But it was always me who was making the excuse
Because I was the one who didn’t want to go!!!
BUT YOU OPEN THE CHURCH-HOUSE
TODAY AND I’LL BE THERE IF I
AIN’T ALREADY PREACHIN SOMEWHERE
Today many wives go on to church without
Their husbands and vice versa!!!
And listen if your husband or wife chooses
Not to go then you go on and go anyway
Because you can’t let yourself end up in that
Terrible place
Just because your spouse don’t want you to go!
At this point Jean and I are very happy with our
Decision to serve the Lord
And almost all of our family members have
Chosen the same!!! PRAISE THE LORD
LISTEN TO THIS:
The top three reasons people attend church are
1-theological beliefs and doctrine
2-how caring the people are about each other
3-the quality of the sermons preached
what ever happened to going to church because
you love the Lord???
Or because He sent you a personal invitation
Or Because Jesus died for you??
Whatever happened to people wanting to be
In God’s house everytime the doors are open??
People this church ain’t for the people
That are sitting at home!!!
God has something for everyone too
That will serve Him!!!
Listen to Ephesians 4:11
And he gave some, apostles;
And some, prophets; and some evangelists;
and some, pastors and teachers;
for the perfecting of the saints
for the work of the ministry
for the edifying of the body of Christ;
WHO IS EXCUSED TONIGHT???
Nobody is excused tonight
There is no excuse!!!
NO EXCUSE FOR NOT SERVING GOD!!!
Any problem you have He’s there for you
No matter how big or small
You’re never alone!!!!
He’s always with you!!!
The important thing tonight is to have a personal
Relationship with the Lord!!!
It’s such a wonderful thing to have Jesus living
In your Heart!!!
Do you know Jesus tonight???
He knows you!!!
Won’t you let Him in tonight??
He died so you can live
He gives life and gives it more abundantly!!!
Surrender to him tonight!!!
