One of the expressions most commonly used in the Bible is the title of this message. It indicates the things that must happen. “Shall”, in English language, is a strong word used to show that something must happen. What we are saying in essence is that God is going to bring to pass what He has promised.
This is good news for you; God understands the situation more than you think. God has promised that every evil counsel against you cannot stand - it shall come to pass. He has promised that good and mighty things will happen in your life - He shall bring it to pass. He promised that you will eat the good of the land - He shall bring it to pass. He says all the enemies confronting you shall be defeated - He shall bring it to pass. He promised that you and your children will be for signs and wonders - He shall bring it to pass. He promised deliverance from all your troubles - it shall come to pass.
When God is the actor on the stage of a person’s life, all the other actors will disappear. Any force or power hindering what God has promised in your life, will wither in the name of Jesus.
Psalm 107:26-29: They mount up to the heaven, they go down again to the depths: their soul is melted because of trouble. [27] They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and are at their wit’s end. [28] Then they cry unto the Lord in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses. [29] He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still.
These are people looking for help they have tried everything they know. The doctors, philosophy, science, human intelligence, and nothing is working; they were confused and then, they cried unto God. God will calm the troubles seas, and also perform His words.
Jeremiah 1:12: Then said the Lord unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it.
God is not interested in the suffering of anyone, but there are some things you have to do if you want the promises of God for your life to come to pass. It is important because your actions may cause a hindrance or delay or lack of fulfillment to God’s promises. Despite God’s promises, a believer may face some tests and troubles especially while waiting for the fulfillment of these promises.
Let us examine what a believer should not do in the middle of tests, trials and troubles so that he or she will not land in more trouble.
SEVEN DON’TS TO NOTE
1. Do not blame God: When some people are praying, they lament and blame God and one would wonder if it was God that physically brought down the problem on them. They say: “God why me? I am Your child and this is happening to me. “A” is there and doing well, “B” is a witch and is doing well, why me?” God is not moved by your sympathy, crying or pity party.
2. Do not break down: If you break down in tears and sobs, the devil will be happy and will continue to make fun of you. I have a question for you: Imagine you have a baby who is hungry and is crying seriously and incessantly. You have already prepared his milk and it is hot. You have placed the bottle of milk in a bowl of cold water to cool down. Would you place the bottle teeth on the lips of this child with the milk as hot as it is? Certainly not. I am sure you will find other means of making the child understand that the milk is too hot at the moment and that he just has to wait for it to cool off.
God will not give you your milk while it is too hot for you. You have to be patient and stop crying. Sometimes, while God is still preparing it, some people walk away and by the time He gets to their door, they are no longer there and He is obliged to give it to someone else.
3. Do not give up: Know that God who has promised will surely bring it to pass. Wait patiently upon Him. Don’t allow the blessings meant for you go to someone else because the Bible says: “My words which I send forth, will not come back to me void but it shall prosper in that, for which I sent it.”
It may be the day that you decide not to go before His presence anymore that the angel of your blessings will come, and if he does not find you, he will give it to someone else.
4. Don’t be discouraged: Discouragement should not be found in the dictionary of a believer. A discouraged person is helpless. A discouraged husband will make life unbearable for his wife. A discouraged wife too will make life hell on earth for her husband.
Discouragement is a very useful tool in the hands of the devil and it is a commodity that he sells at the most expensive rate to those who want it. It is his greatest weapon against Christians.
5. Do not lose your joy: The Bible says: “Rejoice in the Lord always and again I say rejoice.” “Let your moderation be known unto all men, for the Lord is at hand.” It further says that the Spirit of God that has all under standing shall rest upon your heart and mind when you rejoice always. If you lose your joy, the devil will be happy.
Anything that makes a believer lose the joys that the Bible calls his strength is likely to kill the Christian. Some people think that the devil cannot kill a Christian; if he couldn’t, God would not have warned him not to touch the life of Job. He can kill, especially if the person does not maintain his stand as a believer.
6. Do not worry: Anyone who worries, is paying for the excess luggage of the enemy.
7. Do not fear: Fear has torments and the devil uses it to withdraw the peace of anyone who entertains it.
These 7 “Don’ts” are what a Christian should not engage in because they cause delay in the arrival of God’s promises.
There was a sister who was asking God for the fruit of the womb. She was fervent in the Lord and was always at the service. For 12 years, she kept hoping until one day, the devil brought in worry and discouragement and she lost the joy of serving the Lord.
So she decided to stay back home. She was always the first to get to the church and would sweep and arrange benches. This day she gave up happened to be the day that the angel of the Lord was coming with her babies. The angel waited till the end of the service and when she did not turn up, he gave them to another person because he could not take them back to God.
This woman succeeded in fighting against herself and she won. Many people do the same today. It is a foolish battle that a Christian should not engage in.
Why should a believer not do these 7 things?
1 Cor. 10:13: There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
When you do these seven things, it is a sign that you do not believe that God can make a way; the power of God takes off when human power ends or fails. What then should a believer do to hasten the fulfilment of the promises of God for him and make sure he inherits all that God has set aside for him?
FOUR DO’S TO NOTE
1. Rejoice in the Lord always: Philippians 4:4 says, “Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, rejoice.”
When Paul was writing the letter to the Philippians he was in prison, his feet were bound yet he was encouraging others to rejoice.
When he and Silas were imprisoned, they sang praises when naturally, they should have been crying. Their praises generated an earthquake which set them free, including other prisoners. The reason you as a Christian should rejoice is the fact that you know that your God will deliver you from trouble.
2. Seek to know from God, what is going on: He is interested in showing you the secret behind your problem, if only you would ask Him. You do not have to wander around in the dark. Sometimes, there are lessons that the Lord wants you to learn or He would want to polish you to a particular extent before He gives you the promise. Sometimes He wants to develop your spirit to a high level before He gives it to you.
Most times, a delay is for your own good because it will clear the way so that you can enjoy your blessings to the fullest level. Instead of crying and brooding over a situation, go to the Lord in prayer and let Him reveal His will to you. Ask if He is saying “yes” or “no” to your request or “wait”. He may show you some things that have to be done before you become ripe for your miracle. Many young people are making a fuss over the issue of marriage and want to know how to get their partners but they still have pet-sins in their lives - lying, stealing, anger, etc.
The Lord may be saying you should sought things out within and about you before He gives you what you want. If you ask Him, he will tell you why.
When John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist Church was about to die, someone asked him what he regretted most in life. He said it was his wife - if he had been more patient, the story would have been different. Yet this was a man who did exploits for the Lord and people fell from the top of trees under his anointing while he was preaching. The church is no longer what it used to be.
Many people are asking for financial breakthroughs, and if God knows that for now, it would be a hindrance to their relationship with Him, He can withhold it. God prefers saving the soul of a person to allowing him or her to become rich and end up in hell. Sometimes, God just wants you to carry out an assignment before He gives you what you want.
3. Persevere: Remain steadfast, do not drop any thing you are doing for God because there is a problem. You could even seek additional responsibility and refuse to yield to ridicule, discouragement and frustration in your faith and in your trust in God. It is not how fast you go that matters but how well - you must persist in your prayers.
A six year- old girl confessed to witchcraft at a revival meeting. She said her father’s belly was their meeting place, and physically, the father had gone through a series of operations on his stomach and was not healed. The man lamented and said he would kill her. She answered, saying he should remember that he got her as a result of consulting a herbalist. The man could not say nor do anything again because it was true. If he and his family had waited patiently for God’s time, He would have given them a normal child.
4. Live a holy life: There is no dark power that can succeed over the life of holiness and purity. God has prepared something good for you and my prayer is that it comes to fruition in your life in the name of Jesus. God changed the name of Abram to Abraham. Abram means “exalted father.” Abraham means “father of many nations” The name Abraham, compared to his situation, looked ridiculous because he had no child but God had recorded something for his life, which eventually came to pass.
God gave him a name that portrayed His plan for his life. When God speaks, miracles are accomplished; it came to pass in the life of Abraham. The name that God called him, stuck to him.
God spoke to Simon, Son of Jonas He changed his name to Peter. Simon means ‘reed’- something that is weak. Peter means ‘rock’. As Simon, he was unstable and he became a solid rock when his name was changed - he lived up to his new name.
Isaiah 62:1-4: For Zion’s sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth. [2] And the Gentiles shall see thy righteousness, and all kings thy glory: and thou shalt be called by a new name, which the mouth of the Lord shall name. [3] Thou shalt also be a crown of glory in the hand of the Lord, and a royal diadem in the hand of thy God. [4] Thou shalt no more be termed Forsaken; neither shall thy land any more be termed Desolate: but thou shalt be called Hephzi-bah, and thy land Beulah: for the Lord delighteth in thee, and thy land shall be married.
I decree that the Lord shall call you a new name in the name of Jesus.
Moses was looking after the flock of Jethro and one day, he saw a burning bush. The day started normally like any other day but the burning bush made a difference that changed the life of Moses. I pray that you too will come across your “burning bush” in the name of Jesus.
During the first 40 years of Moses, he was trying to become what God had not made him. It ended in a failure. He spent the second 40 years learning that he was nobody. He did a degrading job - he became a shepherd and one day, he saw the burning bush and God made him Mr. somebody. Exodus 3:1-17.
David was a shepherd looking after his father’s flock. One day, Prophet Samuel sent for him and as from that day, he was never the same again. As David approached him, God spoke to Samuel to anoint David as king of Israel. 1 Samuel 16:11-13.
One day, Isaiah was in the house of God, the king of Israel, King Uzziah, had just died. Suddenly, Isaiah saw the Lord lifted high and up. As from that moment, his life was never the same again. Isaiah 6:1-8.
These people experienced divine visitation and were never the same again. This made the glory of God come to pass in their lives.
Gideon was frightened and hid himself from the Midianites. Suddenly, an angel appeared to him, telling him that the Lord was with him. That was the turning point in the life of Gideon; his life was never the same again. Judges 6 :11-24.
Saul was threatening to kill believers and on his way, suddenly, he heard the voice of the Lord Jesus and he was never the same again. Acts 9:1-20. I prophesy that the miraculous turning point of your life has arrived in the name of Jesus.
God is a specialist in doing things in a big way. He starts big things in a small way. Your prosperity can start from one naira. The life of Jesus started by His birth in a lowly place - a manger. The beginning of Joseph’s breakthrough was his interpretation of someone’s dream in the prison. When his brothers sold him off, they thought that was the end of him.
Daniel’s promotion in the king’s palace started with the king’s dream which the king himself could not remember nor interpret. The reason we are reading about Peter today is because he lent his boat to the Lord. Jesus.
This message is meant to encourage you to see what you can become when you allow God to turn you into somebody. When you try to turn yourself into somebody, you become nothing. In Job 8:7, the Bible says, “Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase.” And in Zechariah 4:10, it says, “For who hath despised the day of small things? for they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel with those seven; they are the eyes of the Lord, which run to and fro through the whole earth.”
That little, seemingly unimportant occurrences in your life could be the things that God would use in bringing His purpose to pass in your life.
My advice for you today is that you should not enter into the spiritual school of madness where people want to be paid their salary before they work. They refuse to be saints because they cannot be preachers. They claim to be six - footers while they are still toddlers. They want to read complicated sentences when they cannot identify the letters of the Alphabet. They tell the Great Physician that if He does not heal them instantly they will end their lives themselves.
When you come to the Lord, do not give conditions, trust and obey Him. The Bible says in Psalm 37:5, “Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.”
This verse is asking you to do three things:
1. Commit your ways unto the Lord. That is, bring your burdens to Him; stop bearing the load, take the pressure off your head. Refuse to listen to the problem that is continually making its presence felt.
Don’t turn your solution into a problem. Solution is to make things easy but many people turn it into problems; they give God conditions for serving Him.
2. Trust Him. Rely solely upon the Lord. Believe that He is telling you the truth and have complete confidence in Him. It is a sin to come to church and not trust that the Lord can solve your problem. Many people trust their pastors, wife or husband, children, but find it difficult to trust God.
3. He shall bring it to pass. God does not need your manipulation or engineering to fulfill His purpose in your life.
When you do these things, that great promise: “It shall come to pass,” will surely happen in your life. Many people have been breaking the laws of faith and are expecting wonderful things to happen. What they are actually inviting, is defeat.
Today, I want you to examine your life and see if you are one of those that have been fighting themselves. If you allow doubt to overtake you, you are fighting yourself, You are limiting God by being anxious and doubtful when you are agreeing to evil reports concerning your situation instead of trusting God.
When you try diabolic means of solving problems, you are fighting yourself. Therefore, examine your life and ask God to forgive you for not trusting Him for solutions. Tell Him that you do not want to fight yourself. Ask Him to forgive you for those times when you allowed evil thoughts, anxiety, depression to take over your faith.
I want you to believe God that He will answer you today; even if you have been praying on a particular issue for a long time, I want you to believe God that the promise of God will surely come to pass as you pray now.
The Bible says in Matthew 11:12: And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.
Many things will not come back to your hands until you become spiritually violent. This is because some of these things were captured before you were born and the captors are not ready to release them.
A sister gave a testimony that she saw herself in a dream where someone put her hand in the sister’s womb and brought it out and nailed the womb with 4 nails. As she prayed and intensified her violence, the nails removed one after the other. It means if she had given up or relaxed after the first nail, the womb would have remained bound.
I want you to be expectant and pray with aggression and with violent faith that: IT SHALL COME TO PASS, in the name of Jesus.
Pray like this:
O Lord, give me that life - changing, divine visitation, in the name of Jesus.
O Lord, call me by a new name that will do me good, in the name of Jesus.
ONE THING YOU MUST DO
Beloved, if you have not yet surrendered your life to Christ, you may not be able to receive all the promises of God for your life.
I want you to examine your life and go to God with a repentant heart. ask Him to forgive you your sins. The Bible says His eyes cannot behold sin and if your prayers are not answered, it is your sins that have caused a separation between you and your God.
Name your sins one after the other and ask Him to forgive you and cleanse you from all unrighteousness. Imagine the Lord Jesus on the cross at Calvary, where His Blood was shed for the remission of your sins. Claim this sacrifice and believe that He has heard you and has accepted you into His household.
I congratulate you on this decision that you have just taken. I pray that it shall be permanent in your life in the name of Jesus. I pray that God will empower you with His strength and glory and you will remain steadfast.
Now that you are born again, your life has to change and you will make conscious efforts to keep away from sin and the world. The Lord will help you in the name of Jesus.
